Greetings Fellow Motorheadbangers!!

What a wonderful week this has been! Some of you may have noticed that the awesome coverart work to the new Motorhead album "We Are Motorhead" is now posted at the official website. The album is released in Europe on May 15 and in North America on May 16. I personally think that this is one of Joe's best covers yet!

To make things even better, I also got an early CD-R of the album! I have been listening to it quite a bit over the past three days and I must say that it is one hell of a solid album!

Lets start with the track listing:

See Me Burning
Slow Dance
Stay Out Of Jail
God Save The Queen
Out To Lunch
Wake The Dead
One More Fucking Time
Stagefright/Crash and Burn
(Wearing Your) Heart On Your Sleeve
We Are Motorhead

The album opener, See Me Burning, sets the tone for the entire album. This track defines fast! I remember Mikkey remarking that the crew had to dump water on his legs during the recording of this track to keep them from catching fire! :-)

Every track is solid. I hear absolutely no fillers on this one. I also think that 'One More Fucking Time' is the best ballad/slower track that the band has ever penned. It contains some of the best solo work I have ever heard from Phil. Awesome!

You are going to LOVE this release! I noticed that Amazon.com is taking pre-orders for the album. Just follow the following link for more info: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00004T0NC/blastmagazine0c

More good news! I hve learned that the guys will be playing in Los Angeles on May 24. The venue has not been confirmed yet, but yu can count on the fact that I will be there! I know that management is firming up the North American tour dates right now. As soon as I have them they will be posted on the tour dates page of the website.

Even more good news! I have made MAJOR progress on the long awaited, long promised discography section of the website. Alan Burridge has been kind enough to write some killer notes for each release. Things are shapping up nicely and the initial release will happen this month. This is going to be a work in progress for some time as I am planning to add a lot of cool new features in the future. But, at least for now, we will get the inital ground work layed and give you'all some cool new stuff to read. I must say that I have really enjoyed working with Alan on this project. I also need to thank Sarmad Sheikh for helping me in many ways make this discography section come to life. Thanks Sarmad - you rock!

Yet even more! Things are progressing nicely on the second Internet tribute to Motorhead. I should have everything up and running before the new album is released. Almost all of the bands have submitted thier materials and the layouts are being created. I have heard many of the tracks already and I must say there is some wonderful stuff. Here is another tid bit for all you bangers. A cool website called Music Blitz has made an exclusive arrangement with Motorhead to provide you with an MP3 of the new Orgasmatron 2000. This is the long rumoured remake of the classic Motorhead track. Just head on over to http://www.musicblitz.com/master.cfm?action=displaySong&SongID=338 and you can download it. IT ROCKS! This track is ONLY available at this website. Enjoy!

That is all for now... until next time.

Dear Ace,
I was just curious as to why I've seen no mention of Lemmy and Slim Jim's cover album. It comes out on Tuesday. I got mine yesterday and it's really cool. I just thought all the other Motorheadbangers might like to know about this.

Hey Ace,

Was Jim "James" Taylor joking when he sent you the 'you suck' response or did he really have his draws in a knot over a simple miscalculation on your part?

You'd think that after being inducted into the 'RockNRoll' Hall of Fame for all those years of sensitive acoustic drooling............

You are doing an excellent job (and using your own free time) and I am more than understanding when it comes to shit like what happened with the subscriber list. At first I was a little curious as to why I had 64 new messages in my inbox (didn't think I knew that many people) but when I saw what was going on I figured there was a mistake made and it wasn't you. So to all, BIG FUCKIN" HAIRY DEAL especially al the little pissy fuckers who fired off such inappropriate responses (some of which were in my inbox) to you Ace. Computers are wonderful creations especially when they work right. Like I said you're using your own free time to do this and I'm finding out more than I would on my own and you don't have to put so much into but you do and if it makes any differance, I appreciate it. People need to realize what you are doing for them. I would actully pay money for a service like this and because of you it's free. Keep up the good work and fuck those especially that fucker from the UK whose waiting for the detailed apology from you who don't realize the sacrifice. You did nothing wrong and I'm
sure above all else the band knows what you do for them and they appreciate it. You Rock. Keep it up,

Hi Motorheadbangers,

thanks to the people who answered my questions about Hawkwind last week;

Whao, I found something really funny : one of Lemmy's early bands was issued on CD, it's called SAM GOPAL. It was the band in which Lemmy played right after the Rockin' Vickers, this album "Escalator" was recorded in 1968 and released on Trojan Records in 1969. 24-year-old Lemmy (known as Ian Willis at the time) is singing and playing guitar. SAM GOPAL: "Escalator" Edsel Records EDCE 627 / 2000

Howdy ,
you all probably have the ability to uunderstand what Lemmy says in this song almost everyones computers should have some kind of soundrecorder/wavestudio utility what you do is record the bit of the song with the reverse singing as a wave file then if you edit it there should be an option to REVERSE that should do it if you don't have these then feel free to email me ( - ksmith@smartt.com) I did this when I got my first CD-Rom drive & Soundcard (Back when 4X was the ceiling for cd-roms) and I'm sure I still have the file somewhere and be willing to e-mail it to you.

I love the E-zine and the website I paticularlly like the Motorhead speaks segment and recently asked a question. I was just wondering when the next Q and A will be posted?

Ace: Good question Dan. Basically, it is whenever I send out new questions to the guys. Should be in the next month or so. They prefer to answer them on the road... gives them something to do. There are a whole lot of them that come in and I sift through them to find ones worth answering. If your question is something like "when are you going to play my town/berg/city/backyard, etc, it will not be submitted. The truth is they do not know. That is all up to the promoters. If you question is just stupid, it won't get submitted. The bottom line it this. There are about 30-40 questions submitted from the website a day. I get Lemmy and the boys to answer maybe 20 every couple of months. So, you can see, a lot go into the bin. If you want tips on getting posted... ask a witty or intelligent question that has not been asked before.

Who the fuck do you think you are Jim Taylor, Ace puts in so much effort for this list and what do you do, wait for it read it and if there's one itsy bitsy hiccup you go and bloody personally insult the one who puts in more time and effort for all of us than you would probably ever do for him (or are able to with that egotistical brain of yours that can't be any larger than a medium sized pea). And then demand an apology!? For what, you insulting and threatening him!!! Please unsubscribe, we don't need people that ventilate their opinions when they've got a goddamn IQ of a selfindulged carrot. Go wank of somewhere else, come on GO,......NOW!!!!

I'm sorry for using this list for such mails Ace, but I couldn't help myself when I read this Jim Taylor e-mail in which he seems to be someone who only thinks about himself and aggressively lunges?? out at anyone of whom he thinks did him wrong!

On a brighter note (I believe this is the first time I've actually written to the OS-list, I've been a member for a year now I think, shame on me!) What's up with Lemmy's biography? I read in RockHard (a german rockmag which actually gives Motorhead the much acclaimed credit they deserve, well most of the time) that the release date has been put forward (I don't know if this is proper English but forgive me I'm dutch, not english!) to last February instead of in the fall of 2000 which would mean that it's been released already. Plus rumour has it that M'head are going to perform at the dutch Dynamo festival this year, any news on that?

Well that's it for now Ace, and try to think of the people who do stay on the list and do appreciate and support you and what you're doing for us instead of the idiots that apparently have nothing better to do than nag nag and nag some more!!

Greetings to all,

Romke Mathijssen

**Ace: As far as Lemmy's biography goes, the last word I had is that it is finsihed with the exception of some liner notes. It is being edited. I do not have an official release date other than "this year". As far as the Dynamo festival, I do not have any info on that, but it does seem to make sense....

This is in response to the question of what Lemmy is saying backwards at the beginning of "Nightmare/The Dreamtime".

It sounds like (key words: "sounds like") he is saying:

"I'm loud as hell, yeah, because our love is high."

I'm relatively certain about the first part, "I'm loud as hell, yeah..."
The rest represents my best guess, but I could be wrong. Perhaps someone else would like to take a stab at deciphering it.

Techy tip: These days it's easy to play anything backwards, without investing in major hardware. All you have to do is record the segment as a wave file on your PC, and use a wave editor to reverse it. Even Windows' Sound Recorder can do this.

Hasn't anyone recorded their favorite Motorhead clips as sound bites to create a Motorhead theme on their PC? Anytime I get an error message, I get serenaded by Lemmy with a chorus of "I'm so bad, Baby, I don't care!"

You can do it with the regular cassette as well as a recorded tape... the 4-track should have mute buttons to allow you to selectively listen to tracks. Put in "1916" on side two a few minutes into the tape, mute the first two tracks, and it should play "Nightmare" backwards. Almost as easy would be to record it to a .wav file or .mp3, and use a studio utility like "Soundforge" or "Cool Edit" to flip it. I did it the hard way back in 1993, when I first developed an interest in sound engineering, hooking up two broken reel-to-reels and flipping the reel. I enjoyed reading the comedic works of such anti-rock writers as Bob Larson, Fletcher Brothers, and the Peters brothers, and wanted to take a look for myself. I'm sorry that I didn't write it down, but I remember it being an angry anti-censorship message. The irony is perfect. Anyone looking for a "satanic message" is greeted by this instead. I am unable to recall the exact words, but it was something along the lines of "You miserable, paranoid fascist bastards, you will never destroy freedom of expression as long as free people live." Once again, that is a total paraphrase, but that's the gist of it.

ps. Off topic maybe, but almost every reported incident of "satanic backwards masking" was totally false. Big suprise. The few messages that I did find, like on "1916" and "Pink Floyd - The Wall" were put there as a blatant joke on the censors. The only legitimate one I ever found was in a Venom song, but I don't think that counts. Why'd they bother? It was a love sonnet compared to the forwards lyrics!

One of the first CDs I ever bought was a classic Hawkwind album which I think was called "Psychedelic Warlords". Besides the title track, it had "Paradox" and "Goat Willow"... sadly I lost it long ago. But it had "Motrhead". Lemmy's vocals are mixed in with the rest of the band, but he plays lead guitar on that track! A classic piece of vintage Hawkwind with a Lemmy guitar solo as the outro. Too bad Lemmy downplays his lead guitar so much, it wasn't bad at all. I may have gotten the name of the album wrong, but it shouldn't be hard to spot.

Subject: OS: Previous message (Hawkwind "Motorhead").. I screwed up!!!

Aargh! I must need sleep! Something I saw on OS jogged my memory... my previous message was WRONG! Although the Hawkwind CD I mentioned did have a version of "Motorhead", Lemmy did NOT play guitar on it. He sang and played guitar on "Lost Johnny", solo and all. I got the two mixed up.. slap me.

Thanks Danny Damien for jogging my memory!

I can't believe some of the things I read in OS #94. The vitriolic words were way out of order and the cancelling of subscriptions baffling over such a slight hiccup. Don't let them bring you down, Ace - they'll soon realise what they're

For those of you who don't see Q or can't get it here's a couple of snippets from recent issues:

Quote from Ozzy on refusing to allow Black Sabbath to be included in the nominees for the Rock 'N' Roll Hall of Fame:

"The nomination is meaningless, because it's not voted on by the fans. It's voted on by the "supposed" elite of the industry who've never bought an album or concert ticket in their lives." - would Lemmy feel the same?

Q also listed Motorhead's "Rider" for the London Astoria gig on December 3rd 1999:

1 bottle Jack Daniels, 1 bottle Jim Beam, 1 bottle Vodka, half case Carlsberg Special Brew, 3 cases Miller/Amstel Light/San Miguel, 1 case strong dry cider, 1 case still bottled water, 1 bottle Perrier, 1 case Coca Cola, half case Pepsi Cola, 6 bottles Lemon & Lime Gatorade, 4 litres fresh orange juice, 4 litres fresh milk, 5 packets Reece's Peanut Butter Cups, 3 bags assorted crisps, 1 bowl assorted fruit and nuts, 2 packets Marlboro Red, 2 packs Benson & Hedges, a deli tray featuring assorted cheeses, meats pickles etc, assorted breads (including brown) and crackers, buttter, salt, pepper, mustard and a constantly refreshed supply of ice cubes!
Thirsty or what?

All the best

Subject: os: new lemmy cd!

Well, I just picked up the new Lemmy side project cd, "Lemmy, Slim Jim & Danny B" (Cleopatra CLP 0826-2). The jury's kinda out on this one! I can understand why Lemmy did it. These are his roots and all, 50's music. I was surprised he doesn't even play bass on it, tho'! Lemmy sings lead, plays acoustic guitar and harmonica. I guess it kinda grows on ya. but it's definitely not Motorhead! Buy it and judge for yourself. BTW- I've scanned the way-strange cover if you'd like to see it. Be in for a surprise!

Lemmy claims himself to be the fifth collector in the U.S.A. of memorabilia of the Third Reich. Well, recently I've seen a film called "American beauty" and in a moment is shown a collection of old war guns and bombs.... in a closet there is a dish with the swastika and next to it a playing card: an ace of spades. I'm still wondering about this ace of spades, what the hell does it have to do with the rest of the collection? Can anyone clear up?

Heads Up! Fellow Motorheadbangers! I have found another movie where a motorhead record or shirt has appeared in a movie. It's in "HIgh Fidelity" with John Cusack. The record appears to be the self titled record with the Clarke Taylor Kilminster lineup. That's good news to see motorhead on the big screen in any form. Another small anecdote concerning "High Fidelity" if you look closely, you will see a shot of an MC5 album--one of Lemmy's favorite bands. More cool trivia!

Can't wait until 5/16! Ace: wow! the artwork is impressive! One of the best album covers by Joe Petagno ever! It rivals the "Orgasmatron" cover. Thanks for posting it. Will there be audio samples of a track or two from "We Are Motorhead" available soon? Thanks for updating the page. That is an awesome opening to the homepage.

Ace: I saw the film last evening... good one by the way. I saw the record in the bin as well! I think that the album in question is actually the limited edition leather vinyl edition of No Remorse. I could be wrong...

With "We Are Motorhead" coming out May 16, fingers crossed!, would you consider trying to get copies autographed by the band to sell in the Motorheadshop? It would be great to add this to the other three autographed cds I got from imotorhead. They are awesome! Keep up the great work. Love all you are doing with the site and "Overnight Sensation".

Best wishes,

Ace: I think that is a STRONG possibility! :-)

Hello friends,

Lemmy appeared in one of last year's issues of Hustler's Jailbabes. If you still haven't seen the photoshoot, go to http://www.geocities.com/SunsetStrip/Towers/1628. The pictures are available in a zip format in the 'Picture Archive' section of my site. The article that goes with them is in the 'History' section. The zip file will be up until the end of April, so this may be your last chance to see the pictures, or not. I have also put up a 'Gig List' section, where you can find a complete listing of tour dates from 1975 til recent.

I am currently searching for Spade shaped studs and Motorhead Emblem Studs. The studs are the same ones shown in the pull out photo=shown on the pants in the Motorhead box cd set that band members are wearing. I was searching for a Motorhead Belt Buckle which I found in toronto Ontario for $140.00. Any assistance you can give me on this would be greatly appreciated.
