Greetings Fellow Motorheadbangers!!

Well, delays, delays, delays... well my friends, there is a good reason... at least for me! I have managed to secure a new job as music editor for a cool new magazine that has recently started up. It is called "A XXX Generation" and is a wonderful blend of the worlds of sex and rock 'n' roll. Check out the beginnings of the website at http://www.xxxgen.com.

The problem is that I am in the midsts of a transition between the two positions... so in essence I am running two jobs at once. It tends to suck up a GREAT deal of my time!

On the cool front, I have arranged for adult star Inari Vachs to interview Lemmy (with an appropriate photo shoot) for the next issue. It is going to be SO cool!

I have also switched the list maintenance part of Overnight Sensation over to the services offered by listbot.com. I think that this will alleviate the 2-3 hours week it takes me to maintain the list. If you want to unsubscribe, just send a message to overnightsensation-unsubscribe@listbot.com

Still looking forward to the new album release in May followed by a tour. As part of my new job, I think that I will be able to attend more of the shows... :-)

That is all for now...

Hello.Who was the original performer of "Beerdrinkers and hellraisers?".Also,i know that motorhead made in the first times an ep with the same title.Which songs were in it? Thanks

ZZ Top did the original version of BD&HR's. There were I think 4/5 tracks on the EP. As for the other tracks, Instro, City Kids, On Parole and I'm Your Wichdoctor , maybe it was these?? I can't remember for sure. It was availible as a 12" pic
disc though and couloured vinyls - pink, orange, red, blue, white, black.

Nic - MHB 163.

p.s I agree with Ian Fuller (T-shirts), lots of free publicity.

How about MP3 format? MP3 files are about 10% of the original WAV file's size. I'd recommend Electronic Cosmo's MPEG Suite, a very fast and easy to use MP3 encoder/decoder. You simply select the WAV files to encode and click the encode button. Check out http://ec2000.xperiment.net/

In OS#91, someone mentioned finding Motorhead buckles at a place called "Alchemy".
I searched the web and found the site: http://www.alchemy-gothic.com/index.html
They also have lots of neat skull, sword, serpent, etc. items such as pendants, rings, buckles, you name it.
I emailed them and asked about the Snaggletooth buckle, and whether it is truly 'official' (Do Lemmy and the boys get their 'dues'?). They said yes. I wonder whether Ace could confirm this.
Here are the responses I got from Alchemy Gothic:

>You heard right! We do the Motorhead buckle it is 38.99. I hope this is okay. Thanx for your interest in our products.

>Yes all our merchandise is official and direct from the band. Thanx

motorhead doing the rolling stones' "honky tonk woman" i'm hoping this is the cover that's to be included on the new record, because it sounded sooooooo f'ing awesome! ace, can you confirm?

** Ace: I know that they were considering Jumping Jack Flash, but I think that it has been slotted for a soundtrack. Instead, they are going to do God Save The Queen (at least, that was the word in Feb).

Some one was asking about bass tabs for motorhead, the only place i know of is OLGA (http://www.olga.net). Tried the link from the official site but sometimes it works and recently it hasnt.

Also for the people who complain about others wearing motorhead shirts, maybe they listen to perfrom crap music but maybe exposure to MH will open their eyes to the festering world of pop music and allow them to lead full and happy lives like we lucky few who have known better for a long time. I dont usually comment on these things but i have seen enough bitching and exclusion in the metal and punk scenes over the years to know it doesnt add anything constructive. Sorry.

Finally i have seen a motorhead box set (had 10 cd's), it was in tower records in london (kensington to be precise) Dont know if this is what you have been heasring about, I saw it 2 years ago so maybe it isnt but hey 10 cd's plus a booklet of their history and lyrics (i think it had these but it was some time ago). I also remeber seeing it in HMV and possibly virgin in london aswell so maybe they would be worth a try. Hope that has helped.

Subject: hall of fame? hell yeah!

After stopping off for a few beers at The Garden Grill, I hung around my place watching the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame Induction Ceremony. It got me to thinking about an email I'd send off to OS. This would have been it:

"With all very due respect to Eric Clapton, Earth, Wind & Fire, Nat King Cole and, sure, even the Loovin' Spoonful, what do we have to do to make some noise about Motorhead earning consideration for the Hall Of Fame? They certainly deserve it."

That's what I wanted to email in. Short and sweet. But then I started feeling it. Forget crap like the Grammys. It's a joke, plain and simple. But the Hall Of Fame is a little different. The Grammys are completely subjective. They are decided by a bunch of out-of-touch, music industry executives. If they've heard of the band, it gets their vote. But the HOF has guidelines.
Guidelines that an act must have achieved to consider induction. Motorhead has met all these guidelines. And as we all know, surpassed them. Then I start weighing the pros and cons. Motorhead in the HOF? Would that "change" it? Would my little secret get out? No I don't think so. If they did their thing on stage at the ceremony, nobody not-in-the-know would run out and pick up a copy of Ironfist the next day. Dopes wouldn't stand around the watercooler going "Did you see Motorhead last night? Boy, I have to catch them when they come to town." Nope. We'd be safe. But, damn would it be great.

So I started getting even more excited. What would it be like if I was the one giving Motorhead's induction speech? That's when I really realized that the email I planned on sending wouldn't cut it. So here is the speech I would give if I was the one who inducted Motorhead into The Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame:

"Well this took long enough. Because as soon as the ground was broken here in Cleveland, people should have started talking Motorhead. For three decades, they've been what rock and roll is all about. If you at least pay attention, you know Lemmy. But there's been a lot of guys in Motorhead. Philthy Animal Taylor. Phil Campbell. Pete Gill. Wurzel. Mikkey Dee. Brian Robertson. Fast Eddie Clarke. All of them. But no matter how hard you try to honor all the people who have been in Motorhead, it always comes back to Lemmy. Whenever I tell someone that I'm going to see Motorhead, they always come back with a crack like "What, is Lemmy seventy?" And I go "No, he's in his fifties." And that makes it even more remarkable. Because Lemmy is Motorhead. And Motorhead IS rock and roll."

Then I would lean into the mic and say "Just in case." The curtain would plummet, the bombs would go off and they'd rip into Motorhead. And I would turn around, raise my fists and jump for joy.

Lemmy was replaced by Henry Badowski shortly afterwards and they changed their name to "The Doomed". By the way, Lemmy also played with The Ramones; he is performing the song "R.A.M.O.N.E.S." with them on their last live album "We're Outta Here", short but it rocks !

About the song pick, i would like to say that Lemmie hates hippey's and doesn't like ZZ Top either. Also anyone in England should buy this months Q mag cos it has a great interview with Lem and he talks about Sid Vish, about the new album, the fittest member off Girlschool, and other verious girl bands and so on. Definetly worth getting.

By the way does anyone have a full copy of the grammy's because the cunts took out the 'real' section even though I saw Lemmy on it.

A good place to buy the new tour teeshirt is http://www.8ball.co.uk Also I was surprised to read in Wired magazine that Lemmie doesn't like Metallica, I also don't like em, cos there too famous etc.

Dear Ace,
In #92 of OS, there was someone enquiring about where the "Beerdrinkers and Hellraisers" track originally came from. The answer is good ol' ZZ Top, and I believe it came out on an e.p. that had some kind of summer/holiday theme. The Motorhead track came off an e.p. also, alongside tracks such as "(I'm Your)Witchdoctor" originally by John Mayall, if i'm
not mistaken.

Lemmy - Warts'n'all

MOTORHEAD have covered the SEX PISTOLS' 'GOD SAVE THE QUEEN' for their new album, and singer LEMMY is also considering a part in a film based on the infamous JUDAS PRIEST court case when the parents of a suicidal fan tried to prosecute the group, alleging their songs contained subliminal messages. The Sex Pistols cover is expected to feature on the band's new studio LP, which currently has a working title of 'We Are Motorhead'. The final mix of the album was sent off to the band's record label in Germany this week, with a release expected sometime in May. The release of the album also coincides with the band's 25th anniversary. A UK spokesperson for the band told nme.com that a series of special Motorhead parties were being planned to celebrate the event, with musicians including Primal Scream's Bobby Gillespie and Skunk Anansie being tentatively approached to participate in some way. If Lemmy does choose to take part in the Judas Priest film, it will be based on the events of 1990, when the parents of Raymomd Belknap alleged subliminal messages on the song 'Better By You, Better By Me' caused the teenager to make a suicide pact with pal James Vance. The friends shot each other and Vance survived. Later he claimed they were told to kill themselves in a hidden incantation on the 'Stained Class' LP which could only be heard when the record was played backwards. Lemmy's solicitor Alexis Grower said: "Lemmy loves the idea. They initially came to him with an offer to record a few songs and I said, `Why doesn't he get a role in it.' They were thrilled. There's not a lot on the table at the moment but Lemmy will be in it."
