Greetings Friends!!
First of all, I apologize for missing the newsletter last week. I had the good
fortune to be in New York City for the first time in my life (on business). But, now
were back in action! Good news is that for te first time, we have officially crossed
the 2000 member barrier! Yup, there are 2048 Overnight Sensation members as of this
mailing. AWESOME!
The tour is going very well. The first couple of shows had to be cancelled due to a
bout of strep throat that Mikkey was getting over. But, all is right as rain now and
the band is storming across the country in fine form. PLEASE send me reports from the
shows... I look forward to hearing what went on.
There have been several more tour dates added. I update the webpage tour dates as I get them, so that is the
best place to see the latest. On that note, I would also like to mention that if I am handed late breaking news BEFORE
an issue of OS is sent, I usually post it on the LATEST NEWS section of the website. So check it often if you want to
be on the absolute cutting edge of Motorhead news.
MOTORHEADSHOP!
New items will be added this week including signed "Everything Louder" and
"Snake Bite Love" posters. Check it out!
INTERNET TRIBUTE: The Sequel
Well, the second internet tribute to the loudest band in the world is well underway!
We have lots and lots of bands participating and I think it may be even better then
the last one! As you know.. that is a VERY tall order considering the talent and
style of the first go-round.
I would also like to extend an invitation to any of the bands that participated in the
first tribute to submit a new track for the second one.
Any of you out there that are part of a band that loves to play Motorhead tunes, how would
you like to contribute a song? The songs would intially available only as Real Audio
files on the official website. The first tribute got listened to by thousands
people. Here is your chance to get your band heard playing songs by your favorite
band!
I have already had several bands email their interest... but we need more. If you are
interested, please send me an email to acetrump@bigfoot.com.
Make sure that subject of the email is "OS Tribute 2". I will send out a
seperate email to the bands with details about the project so that it doesn't clutter up
the list.
SETI and MOTORHEAD
Alright! We are up to 17members of the Motorheadbangers SETI group.... and we have collectively contributed over 5000
hours of computing time. But I know that we can do WAY more! There are more then 2050 of us on this mailing list...
I am SURE that more then 17 of us can participate in this venture. I beleive that if we can all pull our resources together,
we could make a serious splash in this. There are some groups that are participating in this that have recieved some
publicitiy about their efforts. I would LOVE for the world to know about Motorhead fans and how they pulled together
to add to this worthy endeavor. Please take a moment to re-read the details below and consider donating some CPU time...
let our voices be heard throughout the cosmos!
SETI (Search for Extra Terrestrial Intellidence) is a program that was initiated by the US
Government some years ago to study the radio waves that are transmitted from space.
The idea being that if there was life on another planet, they might try to send us
radio signals. But, gathering the data for SETI has been easier then actually
crunching it through the computers and analysising it. So, with the advent of the
internet, they have decided to solicite the help of the millions of PC owners out there to
help in the search for life on other planets.
I think it is a really cool notion to have the entire universe listening to Motorhead
someday. But first, we gotta find them! So, if you are interested in
participating, just head on over to http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu
and download the screen saver software that analyses the data from the radio telescopes.
All the instructions and details are there.
Now, we want our rather loud voices to be heard! To this end, SETI also has allowed groups to combne the efforts of
computer owners to show relative rankings in participation. In other words, who has crunched the most data! So,
I have created a group for all of us Motorheadbangers! After you have signed up for the SETI@home project, mosey on over to
the groups section located at http://setiathome.ssl.berkeley.edu/team_list.html.
Once you are there, use the search engine to find the group called Motorheadbangers. Follow the instructions
there on how to contribute your efforts to the group.
Lets show the world that Motorhead fans can do their part!

What in the hell were you on when you wrote this, idiot drugs?! Philthy was a pretty good drummer, but Mikkey Dee is
also a good drummer. He's got more of a unique time feel than Philthy, too. Sacrifice is actually 4/4 time, but
listen to the way he plays it, man! And as for March Or Die being a weak album: The tone itself might have been kind
of weak, but I don't think the songwriting was weak at all. And I've been listening to Motorhead for about four years
now, so don't give me any "oh you fucking amateur ohhaauhgght!" Nobody fuck wit' de Jesus, man!!

Hey Ace,
I've always heard Tommy Aldredge (Black Oak Arkansas, Ozzy, Pat Travers, everyone!) played drums on March Or Die. And yes,
it was a bit of a weak album! Not to sound like a Motorhead woodpecker, whatever the hell that is, not only is Mickey Dee
a better drummer than Phil Taylor, but so is Aldredge! I've seen all three numerous times since the early 80's so I didn't
become a fan "three months ago"! Hell, even Lemmy says Dee is better than Taylor! You don't believe him??? Hey, let's even
throw Pete Gill into the mix!!!

Subject: os: a few motorhead questions
Hello, fellow Motorhead mailinglist readers, cheers from Central Alberta,
Canada.
A few questions:
I'm in need of any and all Motorhead bass (and guitar, actually) tabs. Unfortunately, http://www.motorhead.com/tabs is either down or
otherwise unavailable to me via my ISP, or I've got the outright wrong URL! Specifically,
I'm looking for bass tabs for Rock and Roll, Bomber, and Iron Fist. I recently took
up playing bass again after a long period of not playing, and unfortunately, my ears
aren't what they used to be!
Motorhead shirts - I'm looking for anything I can get my hands on, but I've not had much luck finding QUALITY ones here, and
I'd like to support the band as directly as I possibly can. Missed their last show in Calgary, unfortunately, so I'm
(Motorhead) shirtless these days. I know about the mailinglist shirts, which my payment is off in the mail tomorrow
for 2 shirts, Ace!
Also, is the band playing Canada again? I know they are on tour with Nashville Pussy
(don't miss these guys, a great band, and their bass player is a Goddess!), it was rumored
they were playing some Canadian shows, but I've not seen anything but US dates,
unfortunately. If not, are they playing anywhere in the NW USA? Seattle,
Spokane, Montana, etc?
Oh, while I'm here, does anyone know what label the "Built for Speed"
tribute/comp was on? I recieved it as a birthday gift from a friend, taped, with
little information other than titles and tracks. I want to buy the original, but my
local record shop needs to know the label for some unknown reason. Pretty good
album, too! The Zeke, Electric Frankenstein, Dropkick Murphys and (REO) Speedealer
tracks really stand out. Road Crew by EF damn near rivals the original, provided you
enjoy the punk thing to begin with.
Whups, sorry for the lengthy post, folks!
Thanks folks, keep on keepin' up.

and shit. >Some who I would call "Motorhead wood-peckers" say things like "Philthy not being a good drummer,
Mickey mouse Dee >is the best, March vr Die isn't a weak album... and other similar stuff".
I'm going to use this mail as an example to denounce this way of thinking. This type of
fan seems interested more in Motornostalgia than the music. Instead of listening to the
new stuff (which is better in many ways, especially musically) with an open mind, they
judge on the basis that no Motorhead could be better than the "classic"
Lemmy/Fast Eddie/ Philthy Animal lineup. I don't like that. Mickey Dee is
simply a better drummer than Philthy Animal. No two ways about it, he's just more
competent. I prefer Fast Eddie to Phil Campbell, but that's just me. I prefer the
new albums to the old by virtue of their still being Motorhead, but evolved into an
even-more distinct sound through the wisdom they've gained over their career. Lemmy
is a better musician now than he was when he started the band. They still play their
old stuff, and they do play a hell of a lot, so there's not much chance of their
forgetting their signature style (though Metallica sure blew it on that front).
Oh God, this fucking weak album
>isn't heavy enough to be a soap opera music theme. I don't blame the guys who say
things like these.
March or Die, while pretty weak and fairly commercial, is still good. It's got several
really great songs on it, including Stand, a great cover of Cat Scratch Fever, Bad
Religion, Hellraiser, and, of course, March or Die. The other songs are kinda
average Motorhead, like those songs I never think of from Orgasmatron or Iron Fist (Mean
Machine, Don't Need Religion, etc.). I'd call the album a stumbling block, for lack of a
better word/phrase. Still, I find it pretty hard to argue that the music on, say, Ace of
Spades is better than that on, say, Overnight Sensation. Ace of Spades was fast and
ferocious and all that, but OS is cleaner and more well-thought-out. It's still got
Motorhead's speed and ferocity, but also a hint of sophistication they didn't used to
have.
They don't understand Motvrhead because
>the majority of them became "Big motorhead fans" three months ago.
I became a fan after Sacrifice, when I first heard of them. What makes a fan who
happens to be older, and thus more likely to have heard them during the eighties, more
qualified to pass judgement than someone who just started listening to 'em "three
months ago", and found out they're the best band in the world? It's a pretty
easy thing to realize, and it doesn't even take
that long.
>They mail ace of trump just to kiss lemmy's ass and lick his balls up.
What do you do? Offer Lemmy critique? Hell, no. Your type says
"Lemmy, you were better a long time ago 'cause I've some really good memories.
Too bad your current stuff will never match those memories 'cause I'm holding you
to such a high standard!"
>Only those who really don't know Motvrhead can't see that Mickey Mouse will
never reach Mr. Philthy Animal Taylor's >shoes, and that the current band
lost the speed and furor from the past.
But they DIDN'T lose the speed OR the furor. Just look at Take the Blame. Or Burner. Those two songs are faster
and fiercer and way more savage than anything off Ace of Spades (this type of fan always classifies Ace of Spades as their
best album, usually 'cause it's the most famous. That's a subconscious thing they probably don't realize). Overkill
(the song), though...
I think the drugs
>made Lemmy's brain decay, because he, himself, doesn't understand Motorhead any more,
saying insanities like "the best >drummer in the world, Mickey Dee".
He may very well be the best drummer in the world. Philthy Animal isn't even
qualified to compete. And how could Lemmy not understand Motorhead? He IS Motorhead!
Were they to keep their style without ever improving or changing, we'd be stuck
with a drug-addled Hawkwind spinoff. Were they to stay with the same style as AoS or
Bomber, they'd have long since fizzled out. As Lemmy says on the back of 1916
"Stale and on a treadmill in our careers..." They were going nowhere!
That change of scenery did wonders for the band! For a band to stay alive,
they've got to be dynamic. Stagnance leads to death.
Also, these wood-peckers will give up for the true
>Motorhead when Phil Animal comes back and the true band sound be rescued: when giving
up for the true Motorhead, these >wood-peckers will also stop listening to the band,
because they will not stand a so heavy sound.
I really think Motorhead would lose a lot if they kicked out Mickey Dee and resigned
Philthy Animal... and it wouldn't just be the superior drumming. I'd still listen, and
probably like, but I'd be disappointed as all get-down.
>Fuck you all amateurs !
Lousy pointless Motorhead in-fighting.
>Lemmy's lyrics can be su-frigging-perb. I hope he keeps them going like he has been.
They can also be goofy, just like him. I'm the Man has some of his best lyrics, and
so does March or Die, even though the two sets of lyrics are nothing alike. "I
can't stand/I ain't got no chair"
>But almost every album (not only Motvrhead) that I have has at least one weak song
on it ( except Sacrifice and Overnight >Sensation and Metallica's Black Album).
Holier than Thou? You're right about the two Motorhead ones, though. SBL's
got... jeez, I can't remember the name. Right before Joy of Labour. The
"scary" one.
I don't really have an opinion on bootlegs. I don't own any, but all those I've
heard have had horrendously shitty sound quality, and I would never consider buying 'em.
This applies to bootlegs of ANY band I've seen. A great example is the
Metallica video "Cliff 'em all". All the footage is taken from bootleg
videos from concerts. Just terrible. Grainy, shaky, and the music
"runs". I don't see how people could buy the things if this were the
situation with all of them. Is it? Are there good quality bootlegs out there?
Is my above rant coherent?
**Ace: Very coherent and well thought out. Thanks!

Subject: os: finding vinyl
Can you please tell me where to ask for or find some of the newer releases on vinyl. You
might have seen another e-mail I sent under the ask motorhead page where I mention I have
30 something motorhead albums (all originals, except the compilations etc.). Though the
last couple I can only find on tape or CD.Please tell me they came on vinyl. I,ve been
grabbing Motorhead stuff since I was 11 , in 1981, and have even been lucky enough to find
some original singles from england, the original
white vinyl Motorhead album with inner sleeve, and of course a few leather No Remorse
editions . To get this far though and not be able to find any of the last couple releases
on album is killing me. The reason I seek answers from elswhere is cuz I've had both my
record stores tell me they didnt make them in vinyl but I did see O.S. once in New Mexico
but I was empty pocketed. That was one they said didnt exist. So I know their high. Can
anyone throw me in the right direction? Maybe even help me find some of the only earlier
ones I'm missing , like a couple 45's. I'm sure thats a long shot though. Anyhoot, hope to
hear from someone. P.S. I would really like to get on some list (If this isnt it) that
would notify me when they play southern cal. Or tell me where i can send a picture
of my back which sports a dinner plate size Motorhead tattoo.( no, i dont think it
makes me cool , but It does make me proud!!!). I hear there's a contest or a page you can
dislay yourself on and I would like to be a part of that . thanks alot please reply
**Ace: Send a scan of a picture of your tattoo and it will go on the MH for Life
page. As far as vinyl goes, I have had great success on http://www.ebay.com. I recently saw vinyl copies of SBL and
Everything Louder for sale there....

Ok, I work in a sci-fi store and I've never heard so much geek talk in my life as I have heard recently in this newsletter!
Really! I love Motorhead. Yes, some of their records are better than others. Name any band who has a perfect
track record. Better yet, YOU try and do better! Who cares if Mikky is better than Philty! I enjoy them both.
Philthy has a style that is different from any other drummer I have ever heard. Mikky is, by far, one of the most AMAZING
drummers I have ever heard or seen. They are two different people, so they play two different ways. Bottom line.
As for March or Die...while it may not be what YOU wanted when it came out, I liked it. In fact, "Stand" is one of my
favorite Motorhead songs of all time. It came out at a time in my life when I needed someone to tell me just that...and,
unfortunately, it had to come from a record because that was the only way it could have gotten through to me back then. Anyway,
if any of you get the chance to see Motorhead with Nashville Pussy...DO IT! Not only do Lemmy and Co. rock harder than
anyone, NP is the BEST new live act I have seen in I don't know how long! Buy their album, too...it rocks!

Howdy. I have Sam Gopal's Escalator CD, original LP mixes with the single Horse / Back door man as bonus tracks
(Stable Records SLE 8001) and it's great fun to listen. Lemmy, plays guitar and sings. He composed most of the album tracks,
including the uptempo killer title track. We started talkin' 'bout Hawkwind and finally got here. The album has
some things that would later re-emerge on some Motorhead songs... "The sky is burning" has an introduction that's similar
to "Dead and Gone" from Snake bite love (!!!); "You're alone now" has lyrics that previews "Stone dead forever" and
a chorus of Hawkwind's/Motorhead's "The watcher". In time: for those of us (not including me but including
Lemmy) who said On parole is a weak album, I say it's one of the hottest! On parole has all the fire and anger one might
expect. Take a good loud listen, folks, and I swear you won't be disappointed. And it has the best-ever (IMHO)
version of "City kids", this alone would be enuff. One last thing: my last opinion about what songs on what albums Lemmy
sang with Hawkwind is: You have to get, beside all MH albums, all HW albums as well (at least all from '72 to '75, of
course), the Sam Gopal album and the stuff from Opal Betterfly (which I never heard yet) and the Rocking Vickers
work (there's a good CD comp. called Lifelines, althought hard to find). So EVERYTHING Lem recorded is a must have.
Sorry, but that's the truth. "When you're hot, you're hot;

Reply to Gustavo. Meu irmæo, vocè entrou de sola na molecada do nosso prÿprio time ?!? Gustavo from my country called
the kids Motorhead woodpeckers (pica-paus, as we say here in Brazil). I had a great time reading his mail but ... take
it easy, folk. It's funny I'm talkin' to you in English 'cos it's not to only you, so here we go. Well, the kids
could be hearing useless crap like oasis or pseudo-dance-music, but they're listening to Motor-fuckin'-head, so no need
to complain about their opinions. As brazilians, we know chances were 99 against 1 that they would be dancing
the Tchan (one of the biggest hits of the decade here, it geared countless note-by-note copies by both the same and
other "artists", each one brings a ridiculous dance-craze). Or other kinds of non-genuine, get-ritch-quick, bubblegum
of the worst of the species that floods this country. So the kids are alright, brother. (But I must admit, you're quite
tuff).
"When I go places I just don't care. You'll know why if you see what I wear": Motorhead t-shirt , and I go out on the
streets, even when I go play football (soccer) with humble guys that don't know what's all about. But then comes
this folk who says Motorhead is great, and no matter which age or line-up of the band he (or rather she) likes the
most, we are the best!!! But we can let their education go on so they'll love the timeless (never old) albums
as much as the newer. Take care of y'all. Ricardæo Alpendre do Brasil

Subject: os: march or die
Weak? Depends on how you call it, I think. Every Motorhead album I have heard has at least two songs that I am
fiercely into and one or two I just don't like. March or Die is no exception, as I don't care much for the Ozzy bits or the
title track, but I think "Stand" embodies part of the Motorhead spirit as well as the recklessness of "Ace" and "Fast And
Loose", the unstoppability of "Road Crew" and "Motorhead", and the flat-out power of "Bomber" and "Sex And Death", in the
same way that "Name In Vain" carries on the tradition of "(I Won't) Pay Your Price". Plus, "Asylum Choir" is neatly melodic
and still very powerful. Great riff to come back to after the chorus.
It's kind of a weird album, with the Ozzy break in the middle of it, but it's still
solidly Motorhead in my opinion.
And the title track is starting to grow on me as I write this.
Keyboard. Nifty.
Speaking thereof, thanks to those who are filling in Hawkwind details. I subscribed to the
BOC/Hawkwind list but never got anything back. In case anyone's curious, there's a
handy guide to telling actual releases apart from compilations
(difficult with this band, at least for me) http://www.pcmicro.com.au/~Sonique/Hawkwind/reviews/

I think that Lemmy would find your message very offencieve if he would find a time to read
it. Willis is HIS OWN NAME,he got it from his stepfather, and lived with it for more than
20 years. After a year or two after Sam Gopal affair he changed his second name to
Kilmister,'cause it was the name of his real father.
>Lemmy wrote half of the original compositions
Lemmy wrote ALL THE SONGS (except of 'Angry Faces' by Davidson and 'Season Of The Witch'
by Leitch)on that album, but he credited some to the 'Group' in order to give the other
members an opportunity to get some royalties.

You're mistaken a little:the opening track on 'Decline Of Western Civilization,pt.2' video
is not a 'Loser',but 'Cradle To The Grave',(you're right,it's an exellent song!).It was
released for a first time as a B-side of 'Eat The Rich' 7" & 12" single(
hey, hello to Terry Roberts! Thank you once again,Terry, you know what I mean!).There is
also a soundtrack to that movie, and this song is featured there, also it was released on
'The Best Of MOTORHEAD'album (very original title!) on Live Club Audio (cat#:76 594 1),and
as a bonus track on remastered 'Rock'N'Roll' album.

did not sellout in advance, but typical San Antonio waits til the last second to pickup

Hello everybody,
In previous OS mailing list #78, I've read a letter from some brazilian dude, and this
letter really pissed me off. I felt that I just can't remain speechless and that I have to
answer that motherfucking letter with "Fuck you all amateurs" subject.
>>Some who I would call "Motorhead wood-peckers" say things like
"Philthy not being a good drummer,
>>Mickey mouse Dee is the best, March Tr Die isn't a weak album... and other
similar stuff". Oh God,
>>this fucking weak album isn't heavy enough to be a soap opera music theme.
If you care so much about heaviness in music, I recommend you a band called 'Cannibal Corpse' or crap like that to get
your weak brain fucked. But I bet that would be impossible, because it's already totally fucked up and you showed that, cagalhLo.
>>They don't understand MotTrhead because the majority of them became "Big
motorhead fans"
>>three months ago. They mail ace of trump just to kiss lemmy's ass and lick
his balls up.
If you think you're too big-headed to know everything about "the majority of us", you better start to lick my
balls and beija minha bunda. Seems you think that you're only real Motorhead fan, but you're just a real asshole, because
true fans are always with the band. But you 'wood-pecker' found your way in the criticism. You think you criticize, but you
just stink too fucking much. Well, you're saying that nobody 'understands' Motorhead (except you, maybe? ehhehehe), whereas
you still don't understand that you're complete dumb ass.
>>Only those who really don't know MotTrhead can't see that Mickey Mouse
will never reach Mr. Philthy
>>Animal Taylor's shoes
Nobody says that Philthy Taylor used to be bad. No way. On the contrary, he used to be very cool drummer when he was younger.
He already could be immortal only for the thing that he played drum track in legendary Overkill song. But Dee is definitely
better than Taylor as a drummer. Philthy doesn't even stand close to Mikkey. If you don't see that, you're blind or just too
damn stupid.
>>and that the current band lost the speed and furor from the past. I think
the drugs made Lemmy's brain
>>decay, because he, himself, doesn't understand Motorhead any more, saying
insanities like "the best
>>drummer in the world, Mickey Dee"
Well, check last 4 studio albums of Motorhead out. I mean Bastards, Sacrifice, Overnight Sensation and Snake Bite Love. Seems
you're deaf or permanently fucked up to see that these albums have enough 'speed and furor'. Then, you're writing that
'I think the drugs made Lemmy's brain decay, because he, himself, doesn't understand Motorhead anymore saying insanities
like "the best drummer in the world, Mickey Dee" " Well, you're trying to seem that you still can think, but I assure
you that you just can't think anymore, because your fucking brain is definitely decayed by shit named 'caipirinha'.
If some of you suckers think that Lemmy's brain is drying because of the drugs, just check his lyrics out. Or you're too fucking
stupid for that? I doubt very much that you're able to write something like that, even if you had a mega-brain. Then, I wanna
say about Dee again. Maybe, Lemmy exaggerates a bit saying about Mikkey that he's best drummer in the world, but, anyway,
at least Dee is just the excellent drummer. If somebody dare to argue about this fact, that person it complete idiot in the
sphere of music. And that idiot wrote that Lemmy doesn't understand Motorhead anymore. Well, let me tell you one thing: Lemmy
is Motorhead HIMSELF, so I doubt very fucking much he's not able to understand himself. Only thing I know is that some assholes
like that dumb ass from Brazil just don't understand that.
>>Also, these wood-peckers will give up for the true Motorhead when Phil Animal
comes back and the true
>>band sound be rescued: when giving up for the true Motorhead, these wood-peckers
will
>>also stop listening to the band, because they will not stand a so heavy sound.
Fuck, this is the worst bullshit I ever heard.
Funny, funny.
Seems that 'wood-pecker' thinks that Motorhead used to be REAL when they were with Philthy. Bollocks! Answer one question
then, what's Motorhead NOW? I didn't get the meaning. Are you meaning that Motorhead is NOT 'true' right now????
Damn, dude, you're mentally sick then.
Finally, if you think that 'Motorhead' and 'so heavy sound' are equal words, you're definitely have to visit psychiatrist
or just listed to crap like Cannibal Corpse. Drink your caipirinha and listen to your shitty brazilian bands like Angra
or Ratos de Porao. In fact, make the world a better place and kill yourself.
Chupa meu caralho, you fucking 'profie', Motorhead expert, hahahahaha.
The world is full of assholes, because asshole is an international profession, and that brazilian bastard is one of them.

The new issue of Classic Rock has the Top 30 cover versions (as voted by reader).
At No 9 is "Louie Louie" and at No 26 "Motorhead".
For your info the Top 10 was
Rosalie - Thin Lizzy
All Along The Watchtower - Jimi Hendrix
With A Little Help From My Friends - Joe Cocker
Hard To Handle - The Black Crowes
Ain't No Love In The Heart Of The City - Whitesnake (the original will be
played at my funeral)
Come Together - Aerosmith
Hush - Deep Purple
You Really Got Me - Van Halen
Louie Louie - Motorhead
Whiskey In The Jar - Metallica (shurely shome mishtake?)
Overall a reasonable issue, but next months trails King Crimson, Deep Purple, Lemmy, Blue
Oyster Cult and Ted Nugent! they also mention the rumour (which apparently has some
credence) that Castle Donington will return next year with Iron Maiden & Ted Nugent.

Really enjoyed your "We Are The Road Crew" travel log. What a
deal it must have been to travel with that bunch. I had always seen Tim in allot of
pictures with the band and was always wondering who the hell is this guy that he always
gets his picture taken with Motorhead but looks like he's my uncle. Very well
written, I don't know how you get the time, and a great inside look of the workings of a
traveling band. I could not believe that things were still such a struggle to get a
concert together, equipment, sound, lighting, the BAND!, as it was twenty years ago when I
played bass. Sadly I have to admit that at the time I played bass Gary Thain of
Uriah Heep was my idol. Long time ago in a galaxy far away.
