Subject: os: tribute and new album
In this week's Kerrang magazine a new Motorhead tribute album was reviewed, titled
"Built For Speed". I can't remember at this point which bands were listed
but the reviewer gave it a 3/5 rating. His biggest complaint was that many of the bands
that contributed tried to sing like Lemmy rather than being themselves and they failed
miserably, spoiling their performance. But that's where the OS-based "Deaf
Forever" kicks ass hands-down over this supposedly official "Built For
Speed". Everyone on "Deaf Forever" gave us what a cover should be.
The bands did their own interpretations of the Motorhead songs and gave us
something different to what we normally listen to. If I am being made to listen to a
cover of a Motorhead classic by a band who tries to sing every bit like Lemmy, no matter
how accurate they sound, I'd rather listen to the original Motorhead recording instead.
I'm all for "Deaf Forever" being on general release.
I got hold of the new live album this week and what can I say! I played it on my home-cinema sound system, cranked the
active sub-woofer to full way, sat back and prepared myself to get blown away. When the band walk on stage and strike
their cords, my heart just jumped in fright with my stomach feeling the blow from those guitars. It was just like being
there! And when the first song kicks in (Iron Fist), Mikkey's drums just made the house shake! Lucky for my neighbours
that my house is fully detached. All the gigs I'd been to and I thought the vibrating floor
was from the audience jumping around me. How wrong I was to think that. I had the
same effect playing this live CD - and the volume wasn't even quarter way! The last
time I had that effect from my hi-fi was when watching the Godzilla film.
"Everything Louder Than Everyone Else" is even louder than Godzilla, so if you
haven't given this masterpiece a listen then be prepared!
I chuckeld at Phil Cambell's thank-you messages in the inlay card about the Simpsons for
making him laugh every night. My favourite TV show too! Perhaps the boys can
appear as cartoon characters in a forthcoming Simpsons episode, or even on South Park with
Lemmy kicking Kyle's mum's ass! I'll love it if they do a "Celebrety
Deathmatch"
with Lemmy versus Blackie Lawless!

Well this shirt project seems to be getting out of hand. It looks like we might want to
have a catalogue of OS shirts, so that everyone can be happy. Some want long sleeves, some
want short, some want pockets, some want polo, ect. What the hell... lets get 'em
all!

Yep, finally got it. It was about a week late from the official release date here in
Finland, but right away when I got to hear it, one thing was clear: the band plays like
clockwork, thanks to Mikkey Dee, who - in my opinion - was a welcome replacement for
Philty back in 1991 (Ok, Philty is the "only one" to play drums in Motorhead but
let's face it, the guy was tired at the time, lost the pace). The sound is perfect,
songlist is perfect, what more can you expect? Well, MH could play Finland, it's been 6
years since the last visit!
About the newsgroup: if someone has the power, or understands enough about these things -
about creating a newsgoup, GO AHEAD! alt.fan. music. motorhead - or something like
that, would be just perfect! It would not replace this mailing list but it would be a
perfect addition to it.
P.S. My favorite T-shirt has always been: GIMME SOME... MOTORHEAD!

Hi MHbangers
another interesting Motorhead sighting, but not on telly, this time on stage:
At last years Roskilde-festival in Denmark (we call it the european Woodstock, it's one of
the biggest, best festivals in Europe) I saw The Sisters Of Mercy. Bandleader Andrew
Eldritch was wearing a long dark coat during the concert, but under the coat you could see

MOTORHEADBANGERS!!!
"PLEASE DON'T TOUCH" a thing till
you've read this. I've got a motorheadache. 'Been trying to get my hands on a
MTHEAD T-shirt an it's been "LIKE A NIGHTMARE". I'm declaring
"EMERGENCY" cause I got a "ONE TRACK MIND". Been listenin' to
MTHEAD for 20 years, seen 2 (count em 1,2) T-shirts. They were on someone else's
back. They're lucky I didn't tear them "LIMB FROM LIMB" with my "IRON
FIST" cause then it would be "TO LATE TO LATE" and they woulda been
"STONE DEAD FOREVER". Send me one of them T's when ya get em together or
I'll get on my "IRON HORSE" an YES!!!, I'm "BORN TO LOSE". I'll
blow into town like a "LOCOMOTIVE" and I'll "TEAR YA DOWN" cause I'm
"BUILT FOR SPEED" an I got "NOTHIN UP MY SLEEVE" so "watch
out watch out" cause when I'm done I'll be "DANCIN ON YOUR GRAVE".
Remember "JUST CAUSE YA GOT THE POWER DOESN'T MEAN YA GOT THE RIGHT"!!!
Ya better hurry cause the next letter will be written "BACK AT THE FUNNY FARM"
before I'm "KILLED BY DEATH". Then I'll be able to say "IT AINT MY
CRIME" cause I'll be "RIDIN WITH THE DRIVER" on my way to see "DR
ROCK". So when "YOU GOT YOURS AN I GOT MINE" it'll be "ANOTHER
PERFECT DAY" an your gonna see me "SHINE". So "ROCK 'N
ROLL" Lemmy, tell all them "BASTARDS" to "GO TO HELL". Keep
the world "DEAF FOREVER" cause "MOTORHEAD" is the "MEAN
MACHINE" with a "HEART OF STONE". Say "high" to the road
crew, god bless those "DOGS"

A great idea doing OS partys, and bigger idea meeting and contacting people to travel arround to the shows, for me this is
good idea and solution, because my fucking friends dont like motorhead so i have to go always alone to the shows, i dont really
mind about that, i mind about the money it costs me to go alone...
I heard some of you talking about Evr. Louder than Evr else is the best live album...
uh uh... please dont let the excitement blind your eyes, sorry but before an
extensive listening to Evry.. vs 'hammersmith, 'hammersmith won, i dont like to hurt you,
but hammersmith is the best live album ive ever hear, and no one live motorhead will ever
beat hammersmith... but well, I always love coming killers destroying deafing blooding and

Hey Ace
The OS Parties to go along with shows for OS members to meet is a f'ing cool idea.
Once again, I'm angling to get Motorhead to play the club I work at in Minneapolis.
First Avenue would be perfect for one of these OS parties. Last year we added a new
room, The VIP Lounge, where we hold small events like listening parties, special DJ
events, theme gatherings and private parties, it would be perfect for a OSP. You've
said that management reads this list, so maybe they should take his into consideration
when choosing a venue for Minneapolis. I know it would be very well received by the
club and show-goers alike. First Avenue is very interested in bring Motorhead to
town and to add another special thing to the show is more ensentive (don't give me that BS
about promoters not wanting Motorhead, because it's not true in Minneapolis).

I was listening to some of my old tapes. I have a Motorhead show from Minneapolis from
12/11/85 that is very interesting. A very livley crowd pisses Lemmy off. He also
introduces Metropolis and sings the first line of Metropolis as Minneapolis. I also
have Chicago show from 12/15/85 and various others, if anybody is interested i am willing
to trade or make free copies for anybody. I am interested in Motorhead only, as if any
other band is as great live.

Hello all
Good to see that Metal Hammer (UK mag) has given the new live CD 9 out of 10 ... and
states that Motorhead are still the ultimate live experience !
Also, I saw 2 adverts for the new CD in the same issue. Any promotion can't be a bad thing for the band. Look forward to the
next tour.
Let's crack on with this t-shirt idea for OS members, I look forward to ordering a few. It would be nice to have this all
wrapped up in time for summer !

To the contributor who was asking about a Motorhead belt buckle all I can advise is 'keep looking'! I do own one, of the Snaggletooth
/ War Pig design, about 3inches high and 3 dimensional, in a silver colour, with red "Orgasmatron" type eyes. I had been searching
for about 15 years before I found it - in a second hand jeans shop. I paid about ?30 UK for it (c. $50) at least 8 years ago,
and could have sold it a dozen times over at gigs, but no... I won't be parted from it. Even Lemmy was impressed when he saw
it. It's the only one that I have ever seen but persevere. Everything comes to he who waits..... and if I ever find
another then your fifth on the list!!

Subject: re: os - sirens at gigs..
Dear Ace 'n' all
I've been off the list for a little while and have ploughed thru' a large number of OS
editions in one hit. (So please forgive that this is a little out of date from when first
mentioned).
We were asked to provide 'best of' moments from a gig or meeting the band and a number of
gig reviews have mentioned the Bomber noises and air raid sirens on the last European
tour.. So may I please use this space to brag a bit and tell you a story.
If you are sitting comfortably then I shall begin.....
I am fortunate to be old enough to have been following the band since the Ace of Spades
Tour and they always used to end the concerts in those days, and for some time after, with
the tape of planes flying overhead and then the 'All Clear' air raid siren - signifying
that the onslaught was over - to tie in with the Bomber lighting rig they then used.
This then disappeared at the same time as the Bomber rig was taken out of service, and I
like many fans missed it, so when I had the chance to talk to the band during the UK leg
of the tour I mentioned it to Mikkey that I would like the sirens re-introduced, and could
they not have them at the opening (to signify the beginning of the raid) as well as at the
end? Mikkey I am pleased to say liked the idea and immediately shouted to Lemmy that
they should do it. He agreed that it would be good and spoke to the Tour Manager, Hobbs.
Nothing more was said until the next evening, and next gig (Wolverhampton). "There's a suprise" I was told. Imagine my joy
when the lights went down and the next thing to be heard was the siren!! Then the opening number. And at the end too!! All
my Christmasses at once!! But it does prove the point that this is a band who listens, and takes ideas on board if they think
they're okay. I can't imagine any other band taking any notice of a single fan's idea. That's part of the reason that they
remain a very special group of people to me!!
As you can imagine I bored everybody senseless for the rest of the UK dates with the above
story, everytime thay used the effect. Can anyone tell me if they continued with it
throughout the European dates? Incidentally I am told that the Bomber rig is in storage.
Should we start a campaign to get it reintroduced?

PLease count me in for a T-shirt or two. Could we have the Skull logo exploding out of or
off of a computer monitor with a keyboard below? Perhaps with the wording "Internet

Then the names or whatever on the back. Just a thought.
Might spark a further idea from somebody.
