Hello All!

Were back again with another issue of OS. Things have been crazy on my end recently... most recently I got to do an interview with Ripper, K.K., Scott and Ian of Judas Priest after their killer set in Vancouver. I will have this interview on the Next Level site in the very near future.
I have been preparing material for the website. This weekend I hope to have up the new cover and a few Real Audio tracks from Snake Bite Love. I will also try to get the first TOUR THROUGH TIME show on the web (via Real Audio).
For those interested, here is a note from Hard Radio that is of interest to OS readers:

>Our next webcast comes up in two weeks with Motorhead from the Universal
>Amphitheatre in Los Angeles. Date and time
>will be post at hardradio.com when the show gets closer.

ok, I have the Motorhead bootleg called 50 years of Lemmy, 20 years of motorhead. It's the Lemmy birthday show with Metallica. However, one of the extra tracks on it is a movie soundtrack theme, "black Leather Jacket". I'm a huge motorhead collector, and I was wondering if anyone has a studio version of the song, or knows an album I can find it on.

Thanks,

Dear Fellow Headbangers!

What a welcome relief OS always is to find in my mailbox. Motorhead is THE best band on this forsaken rock. Long Live Rock and Roll!

>>>>>On a slightly more serious note, has anyone else noticed a sudden change in the recent issues of OS? For the past few issues, I've been almost unable to read most of the stuff 'cos it doesn't seem to fit on the computer anymore. This could be down to the technology (?) at this end - it's not my computer, but one at Manchester University. The belief here seems to be that it's best to spend as little as possible on the communal computer clusters.

I have had a problem reading Overnight Sensation for some time...my solution, I click on reply and bring the entire newsletter up in an outgoing message/reply letter. The first thing I do is delete the address so I don't send the whole bloody thing back at you by mistake. The reply letter is perfectly readable. Hope this helps someone else as I stumbled upon it by accident, otherwise I wouldn't even mention it. Thought the difficulty was strictly here and of my own doing :-)

>>>>>>>you live there, as well. So, my question is for Ace as well as everyone else reads this. Are there any hockey fans out there who think Motorhead is the greatest band in the galaxy.

I live in the state of Maine, which is close to Canada and I LOVE hockey!!!!! Fortunately we get a lot on the telly and we have a fair local team to watch up close and personal.

Someone asked about female Headbangers. One here!!! although I am far from a young Babe at 45 years young. I had the honor and privilege of seeing Lem and the Bangers at Hampton Beach Casino a few years back with Tiamat/Black Sabbath and I did really enjoy the young ones in the crowd. More than once I was asked why in the world "Grandma Moses" would show up at a Motorhead gig. What can I say...I love Lemmy!!!

Can't wait for the new CD!!!!!

Peace,
Marie

Since we're all talking about this tribute thing and the covers that these bands will do, what about a list of all other Motorhead covers?

I only know of a few:

Metallica did a couple, but I never heard them.
Sepultura did "Orgasmatron"
Sodom did "Iron Fist", and a couple of Tank covers (great band, used to remind me of Motorhead years ago...)
Abbatoir did "Ace of Spades" years ago.
And the weirdest one of all.... Help me identify this one!

About 5 years ago, a promo CD arrived at the College Radio Station I worked at. I was snooping on our boss's desk to see if there were any new metal releases, and I found one that said "Ace of Spades". I popped it in and there were some girls singing "Ace of Spades"! The tempo was very, very slow, and the music was very mellow. But the tune was unmistakeable, and the lyrics were unchanged.

Then the buddy I had posted as lookout told me the boss was coming back, so I had to stuff the disc back in the sleeve and put it on his desk. I still don't know which band this was, and I've never heard the song again. It wasn't metal, but I wanted to tape it just to have a weird version of "Ace of Spades".

Thanks.
Bryan

**Editor: Ya know, I stumbled upon this video on Much Music one day (Canada's equivalent to MTV, but better). I was doing dishes in the next room and heard what can only be described as a slow country version of Ace Of Spades. The video had the girl singer and the band around a camp fire singing this classic... to say it was surreal would be an understatement. I took note of the band at the time but have since forgotten who it was. When I asked Lemmy about it, he said he had not heard of it.

Hello,
After reading, Jim Taylor's post I just had to say something. It looks like tix must be selling well, because you were (sorry) only offered the cheap tix. I called on the day tix went on sale and got tix in the Pit for twenty something dollars. In requards to the thread about the new Priest singer, Ripper. I must say I am sad that the double axe attacks of Glenn and KK are missing and no one can replace Rob. I guess I am getting old, because the last time I saw Priest was with Motorhead at Operation Rock and Roll. Is the talk true that Motorhead will premire their new material that night? Look forward to seeing all of you at the show!
Heck, D&D (aka: role playing) is cool. Hell, I have been roleplaying longer than I have been a Motorhead fan ;-)

**Editor: I caught Judas Priest night before last and the show was unbelievable!! Ripper is a worthy replacement for Rob and I think that the Priest is on the way back! What do you mean about Glenn and KK's attacks being missing? They seemed to be in fine form when I saw them. Also, yes, Motorhead will undoubtably premiere new material at the show at the Universal Ampitheater.

Professional artwork meant for print runs into the HUNDREDS of megabytes. It would have to be done at least 640x480x24.00 DPI 32 bit color, which is only if the print is to be lousy quality anyway. My PC certainly can't handle this kind of loads.

If I were to do a piece by hand, and send it to you, a mere few weeks is ridiculous, considdering that I do have a life to lead as well, that includes study and work.

(Considdered trans atlantic mail time for a piece at a3 format? )

However, for a webpage, 72 DPI would suffice, and it wouldn't have to be CMYK or RGB either, but could be done in the 216 color web-palette.

What if you prolong the time by a few weeks and call for outlines, that will be re-done by a professional *local* artist, who can simply deliver the result on a ZIP disk to the printer, in the correct format and etc? I'm sure you'll get more submissions *AND* save yourself endless problems getting the prints done.

Besides allowing those without the skills but with the good ideas to present their designs as well.

I'm not only speaking as a designer now, but also as ex editor of a 'zine and ex owner of a T-shirt business, trust me, getting anything printed at decent quality is a BITCH, and you are setting yourself up
for endless problems.

**Editor - Well, I also work for a professional publishing firm and I know what some of what you are saying is valid. I did get several submissions for cover artwork, but one stood so far our front that it wasn't even a real contest. I think that I gave adequate time... if others feel that this is not the case, let me know... I want everyone involved that can be involved (within reason).

Uggh.... once again people have COMPLETELY misunderstood what I said or just had a brain-suck. This is a response to those two, and in that order.

> I play D&D, and I can assure you, it's *not* a geeky thing, some of my fellows are;

I was quoting a movie. I never said D&D was geeky. I used to play a bastardized version of D&D without dice, where the DM would decide if a person died by if they did something stupid. Really required a lot of imagination on the part of the DM, but it was quite fun. Also, please note that having a CHARACTER who is a "major babe" is not an accomplishment. The woman is imaginary. I too can think of an incredibly beautiful woman and wish that I could make her do what I wanted, but it doesn't matter, 'cause it ain't gonna happen.

>To "Maxheadroom"...suuure, Lemmy coulda been the editor of a
>L.A. highschool magazine...how else could he
>developed that British accent?

And this would be the one with the brain-suck. Lemmy didn't go to high school in L.A.! I never said he did! I was following a tiny strand of reason which all but evaporated! Now then.... Lemmy USED to live in England, and went to school there (Wales, really). Could he have been editor of the school magazine there? Possibly. Does it take someone with superpowers in the brain to figure out what I was saying? No. So what's wrong here?

...find eithier a motorhead t-shirt or poster for the station...

Right, go to http://www.concertposter.com. They've got 2 Motorhead posters (March or Die, which is a sucky poster, and Bastards, which is cool and adorns my wall). Also, there's a catalogue called Wild Rags (I think) which has got some posters, and a tapestry. They may also have some t-shirts, but I can't remember. I'll get the address and write it in.

Also, I recently saw Tromeo and Juliet, the Troma movie with Lemmy as the narrator and Sacrifice playing every ten minutes. All I can say is, that movie SUCKS, but it's funny as hell. Troma has a knack for that sort of thing. It's like they took Romeo and Juliet, kicked it in the teeth, and had the guy who made Dead Alive direct the monstrocity. It's fun to watch, and I recommend you see it, if possible (keeping in mind that it's bad and it's supposed to be). Lemmy, of course, is incomprehensible. Couldn't understand a word he said, 'cept fer at the beginning when he was onscreen. Sacrifice is a damn good song and all, but it really loses its feel when played over and over and over throughout a film. Oh, and watch out for the 3-foot penis-monster. Rambling.... the sport of the gods.

Yes, it's quite true Mikkey Dee is a hockey nut. The last two times Motorhead played Chicago he tried to hook up with Blackhawks star defenseman Chris Chelios. Hell, he used my cell phone to call him! I yelled at him "Mikkey, you better not be calling Sweden!" He also said he played with some famous NHL player whose name escapes me. It was a HUGE name, though. Possibly Pavel Bure? BTW, Ace- You're scaring the hell outta me with the word "accessible" in re to SnakeBiteLove! Dear All,

Just thought I'd write in about an obscure appearance of Ace of Spades on a television programme here on the 30th January. It was a Friday night, on a surreal comedy show called "Comedy Nation" on BBC2 at around 12:00. The song was playing in the background in a sketch about a combined garage/funeral parlour (I told you it was surreal). If nobody else has seen this, but likes "The Fast Show", then the best way I can describe the show is that it's not quite as funny as that, but even more off-the-wall.

By the way, I'm still getting grief with these OS editions : I still can't see half of the letters, no matter how far I scroll through the message. I'm using Pegasus mail, if that helps anyone suggest a solution.

See ya,

Snaggletooth.

**Editor: I got several messages (as you will see) about people having problems. Maybe someone out there can help... When I first started OS, I was using Eudrora Pro 2.0 on my Mac. Since then (about 4-5 issues ago), I upgraded to version 3.01 of Eudora Pro. Is there some settings that I could impliment that would help? Let me know all you experts out there...

I am experiencing the same problem with page size. I have to scroll across three page widths to read stuff, which pisses me off. Anyway, I believe the Motorhead game was also available on PC. The plot involved all the roadies/band members being kidnapped, so Lemmy had to rescue them in order to do a gig. It featured such inovative ideas as eating gurkins/drinking beer or whisky in order to produce a killer belch. Cool!!!

In the February issue of Orbit, a free monthly entertainment newspaper in Detroit, there is an interview with Jasmine St. Clair. Jasmine, we learn, is a Columbia-educated porn star who is most famous for having sex with 300 guys in one afternoon and being on the Howard Stern and Jerry Springer shows. She's actually quite articulate.

Anyways, during the interview she states: "I used to date the lead singer of Motorhead, Lemmy. . . . [H]e's a really nice guy. He's one of the nicest men I've ever met. But I have a very bad habit of sabotaging relationships, when they get to be a really good thing."

I am curious, Ace, as to whether (i) the new song about pornography portrays it in positive, negative or neutral light, and (ii) he was influenced by his relationship with her.

I have to use the left/right scroll bar at the bottom to read most messages, paragraphs usually only consist of 2 lines and each line is about 3 screen lengths. This stared about 3 issues ago. I won the King Biscuit Live recently, and have been enjoying the live stuff with Robbo.
Checking out my other Motorhead CD's, I think I found some other live Robbo 'Head.
I need some information about the following song:
Hoochie Coochie Man (live)
I've found this song on two compilations ("Anthology" and "Meltdown"). Both times it is the exact same version.
I think it's Eddie on guitars, but I'd like to know for sure. It might be Robbo, but I'm not sure. I do know that Robbo wanted to play blues more than Eddie. I also know that Robbo didn't like to play Eddie's songs.
Other info: On the "Meltdown" CD, there are 7 live tracks, with 2 different producers listed.
John Verity produced "Hoochie Coochie Man" and "(Don't Need) Religion" Ron Roumann & Mark Dawson produced the rest, which include are definitely Robbo tracks: "Tales of Glory", "Heart of Stone", "Go to Hell", "One Track Mind", and "Shoot You in the Back"

So here are the questions:

1) Which guitarist is playing on Hoochie Coochie Man?
2) If it's Eddie, then was it played during the "Iron Fist" tour or an earlier tour?
3) If it's Robbo, then are the other live cuts on "Meltdown" also played by him?

Thanks!

Right, here's the worst thing I heard all week, something which took my opinion of Lemmy down a peg or eight. A magazine told me about some porn video, the first in a planned series (egad! bad!) in which rap, rock, punk and metal artists tell all about the most deranged sexual experience they've ever had, and then recreate it on camera with professional porn stars. Lemmy is among those who have agreed to be on this atrocious piece of crap.
If any of you is sick enough to watch this horrendously shitty thing, for God's sake, don't tell the rest of us about it!

I got sent an MP3 of Motorhead & Ted Nugent singing Queens Tie Your Mother Down today. Anyone know where on earth it came from ? It sounds pretty fucking cool too ! If some kind soul wants it for a web site ill be happy to email them it !

**Editor: Yes, this comes from a Queen tribute album called DRAGON ATTACK released a while back by DeRock Music. It has tons of cool covers by mostly metal artists covering Queen tracks. I recommend it.

Hello again, fellow MHB's. Just wanted to tell you the meaning of "bad luck." Two days ago I got an advance promo cd copy of Snake Bite Love. How is it, you ask? How's broken completely in half sound! Yep, our "trusty" postal service here in Chicago couldn't even deliver it in one piece, even tho' it was mailed to me from my editor 20 miles away! AARRGGHH!! I was tempted to tape the damn thing together! I'm supposed to get another copy. In the meantime, here's the tracklist:

Love For Sale
Dogs Of War
Snake Bite Love
Assassin
Take The Blame
Dead And Gone
Night Side
Don't Lie To Me (written by Lemmy alone)
Joy Of Labour
Desperate For You
Better Off Dead

It didn't come with cover art, just a flimsy paper envelope. Hence the damage! I'll post more when I get a copy in one piece!
