Subject: os: studio update!

Greetings Fellow Motorheadbangers!!

First of all, apologies for not having a newsletter for the past month. I have been crazy busy with a lot of cool projects that have taken the lions share of my time. But as someone once said, better late then never...

First of all, here is a Studio update. I had the good fortune of spending a couple of evenings in the Studio with Motorhead last week. They were mixing the new record and invited me down to get a listen at some of the new tracks. I must say that I am impressed.

I really got to hear only about 4 of the songs. The first one is called "Red Raw" and is a solid, Sacrifice/See Me Burning style song that focuses on a Jack The Ripper style killer. Next was "Voices From The War". These are some of Lemmy's best lyrics to date and the song is another agressive track. I also heard Lemmy lay down the vocals for "Dr. Love" - a rock flavored track in the tradition of "Going Down To Rio". The last one I heard was untitled at the time and lemmy was still recording the vocals. There are no cover songs on this album.

I am told that the album should see the light of day in March or April 2002.

While I was there, Motorhead was asked to participate in a tribute to Joey Ramone. I guess a bunch of different bands are involved. Motorhead decided to cover "Rockaway Beach". They went into the studio the next afternoon and recorded it. I heard the raw tape the next day and it sounds GREAT! This is a great cover for them.

I also asked Lemmy if the rumours of his participation is a Kiss tribute were true. He said that they were. He indicated that Bob Kulick asked him play on "Shout it out Loud" so he did. He was not sure when it would be coming out.

The Boneshaker DVD was delayed several weeks because the band wanted to make sure that things sounded as good as they could. I have not yet seen the DVD, but Mikkey says it looked great. He was not happy with the sound mix, but thought the video was good.

Apparently the disc is a DVD on one side and an audio CD on the other. I see copies for sale on eBay, so the promo copies must be out there. As far as I know, the DVD has now been released by SPV in Europe. At the moment I do not think that there is a stateside distributor.

Here are the specs on the DVD that SPV emailed me;

Region Code : 0
Audio: Dolby 5.1 and Dolby Stereo.
Subtitles: German and Spanish on the Archives and Backstage pieces.
Running time: 158 minutes
Picture Format: PAL 16:9

Special Features:

: Obscure Releases gallery

The DVD does have a series of "Easter Eggs" hidden in it. If you find any, please report them to the list. Here is one to get you started... "Lemmy Angle", press your angle button during the song "I'm So Bad".

Got lots of cool new stuff in the Motorheadshop! Several new shirts and other interesting items. More will be added soon. If you are buying it as an Xmas gift, please let me know and I will do everything I can to get it to you on time. Check things out today!

Have an awesome week!

Lemmy was also in Hardware (1990) as a taxiboat driver. He pops in a Motorhead tape - "Iron Fist," I believe.

What movies has Lemmy stared in? and when are motrhead going to play in sweden again?

Motrhead fucking rulez!

**Ace: Lemmy has appeared in Airheads, Eat the Rich and did narration for Tromeo & Juliet. I also think had a funny little role in a porno, but I do not know the details off the top of my head. Any others?

I'd like to respond to the Dr. Rock dude. You do have many valid points in what you say. I am acutely aware that if I was one of the people killed in September, that America would not be looking at it the same way as they are now due to the types of people that did get killed. Anyone that would try to tell me otherwise is full of shit. There is indeed a dichotomy of life in America, between those whose lives matter more than others. This was indeed taken full advantage of by the terrorist fucks.
I also know a form letter when I see one. I can see that you do really represent these oganizations that one dude enumerated in his letter. That's cool. However, I have a better place for you to go with some of that. Go over to my website http://www.themastersunderground.com I spend fuckin' hours writing about just the sort of things that you bring up. I will be happy to entertain anything that you or your pals have to say. Bring them all over. Tell me all about everything. This list is full of people that either aren't interested in that sort of shit or are fuckin' sick of seeing it everywhere else and don't want to see it here. I am interested in seeing it, but in another forum. I need all the angles that I can get on this shit if I am going to be able to write about it intelligently for much longer. So bring it on over, that is, if you can handle what I have going on over there, and won't crumble into dust like others have at the sight of it all. Say your shit to those that are interested in at least checking it out.

Subject: os: motorhead tattoos

Hello Ace and everyone else,

The past couple issues of OS have had at least 1 or 2 requests for artwork to get a Snaggletooth tatto. Well, I have the answer to everyones' dreams. Recently a friend of mine decided that he wanted to get a Snaggletooth tattoo, his very first tat at that. Since I am very shop loyal, I told him to see what one of my boy's could do for him. To make a long story short, anyone who is thinking about getting a Motorhead tattoo, ( which is every single person who is reading this, dammit) you need to visit Sacred Art Tattoo in Corvallis, Oregon, and once you get there, ask to talk to Igor Mortis. He is an honest-to-Lemmy master at his craft, and is simply miraculous when he gets his hands on Snaggletooth. Tristan (my friend) didn't even have a very good picture to use, all he had on him at the time was the insert from the CD of ! No Remorse. Igor took that, blew the size up, and made some permanent magic on Tre's bicep. If that doesn't convince you to come, this will: Igor also got to work on the sound crew at a few Motorhead shows in Amsterdam back in the '80's. So come to Oregon, get a tattoo, and listen to the man talk, you'll thank me.

it loud,

Ace, I just picked up the Expanded version of No Sleep til Hammersmith. It has 17 unreleased versions of the Old Tunes. Disc 1 has 6 bonus tracks that complete the set list from the shows they recorded. Disc 2 is different performances of the original track listing minus Iron Horse but adding Bite The Bullet/Chase is better than the crabs ha, ha, ha. These versions also kick butt. This is a great document of the Kilmister,Clarke,Taylor line-up.

Funny you should mention 1916! On the Overnite Sensation tour, I told Lemmy that was the best song he ever wrote! I was mainly talking about the lyrics, but he responded "Thanks. At least someone gets it!" If you listen to the lyrics, it'll put you on the front lines of a war where literally everyone around you is getting their freakin' heads blown off! That said, worst song? Right now, even tho' Lemmy meant well, I'll go with "Don't Let Daddy Kiss Me!" Yikes!

Maybe she doesn't like Welshmen? Unfortunately, Lemmy can't afford to give to charities, other than the Jack Daniels Fund To Cure Sobriety In Our Lifetime so he can't "buy" his way in. Also, I think Lemmy would rather rot in Hell than be knighted by the Queen. "God Save The Queen" proved that!

Apparently Real Player is not on the 'standard' band within a server's setup, so unless this is specificaly setup by the service provider (I access thru work's laptop)it fails.

Is the case for any other MHB's???

I think that I need to respond to that Ian chap that had that posting discussing me. First of all, I see that you hated what I had to say very much, so much so that you reprinted it for everyone to see again. Sound thinking there. Then you speak of the late night nature of my postings. I always heard that in England, the pubs close at like 11 or 12o'clock, and the TV and radio goes off at like that time too. I did not know, however, that they closed down the Internet too. I also find it amusing that someone would say that who was posting on his employers time from his employers computer. Yes, your employer. That fine corporation that makes all those neat-o fighter jets and bombers and nuclear submarines. Yes, that corporation that profits from the evils of war by making the materiels and hardware that is needed to wage it. The one that takes the taxpayer's money from the UK and the USA to do it, for I see that you get a lot of that money that the Pentagon doles out. So it looks to me like you are making your money off of war and all the shit that goes with it, Sirrah. So you just go right on ahead and talk about me and my life. If you don't like thestories that I tell, how about telling some of yours? Like the time that you were at the party at the MI5 headquarters and you guys were playing Bomber while you watched a film of one of your corporation's products drop incindiary devices and kill some people.
You didn't like what I said about the Queen? Well, let's talk about the Royals. Like the fact that these motherfuckers truly believe that they are better than others purely because of their lineage. They believe that shit because they are told it and given lives that say that. What the fuck is that? It's an affront to humanity at large that attitudes like this still exist, let alone real live examples of it at work. That may have been happening in the 11th century, but in the 21st, it needs to be consigned to history books where it belongs.
So they play "The Star Spangled Banner" at the Changing Of The Guard. Big fuckin' deal. Isn't that where those Beefeater Gin bottle dudes that stand in front of Buckingham Palace get rotated? They play the song then? Well, considering that all that bullshit is for the tourist crowd, and a lot of the tourists are (or at least were) Americans, that just sounds like good business shit to me. I don't care what the Queen thinks about America. If I want to see a horrid hag that supports America, all that I have to do is to look across the street, not across the ocean. As far as sending Tony Blair a letter goes, I don't think that the folks at 10 Downing Street would be too thrilled to get any letters from America right now, because someone is making like your corporation and trying to spread death through the mails here.
Let's look at something else. Let's compare jackass face Prince Chuck and Lemmy. They are both native born Brits that are like the same age right? Well, what is the difference between them? Chuckles is some fuckoff that has lived this life of priveledge in which his only real duties were to procreate ( with a virgin, mind you) and wait for his old lady to croak so that he could be a figurehead like her. He got his virgin and procreated, and destroyed her life in the process, and now she has died an tragic death, and his fuckin' old lady still hasn't croaked yet. Lemmy is a "commoner" that has started Motorhead and brought it all around the planet, making a world of friends and doing a lot of positive shit in people's lives in the process. You see evidence of that in every one of these magazines. Gee, I can't figure out which one of those is moer deserving of respect, the one that says that he demands it purely by who he is, or the one that busted his fuckin' ass for years to earn that respect.
I know something else too, matey. I know that the Royals aren't the reason that you got upset with me. If you know who I am so well, you have seen me say shit like that about them here before. You have also seen me say way the fuck more shit that is critical of my own country, by like a 100 to 1 margin. You are upset about the knighthood stuff, that I mocked that. I see that the corporation of death that you are a part of was started by one of those knighted dudes, and that the heirarchy of it is filled with other ones. So if all of you knights are all upset, why don't you go down to the pub and have a big fuckin' plate of bangers and mash and maybe some elvers (no, not the KIng of Rock and Roll) on the side and wash it all down with a few pints of Guinness and watch some footy on the telly, and plan what you are going to do about me. I hope that you use your governmental connections to go the House Of Hawklords and get one of them to make one of those scathing denunciations of me that I see them make about other things when they show that shit on TV here.
I will say that I am right chuffed about all of this though. To know that someone that is involved in the military-industrial complex thinks that way about me is music to my ears. And not the Pentagon one this time either! Say what you will about me Ian, I don't hide and I don't bullshit, unlike you. You make me proud to be a freak, man. It makes me think of this dude that lost his job because of bullshit back in 1975, so he went and formed this rock band that was called "the worst band in the world" , amongst other things. It wasn't exactly what he wanted to hear, but he didn't give a fuck what the Press, the Politicians, the Military, the Pigs, the Holy Men, Mr. Businessman, etc. said. He just stood on his own when he had to and did what he knew that he could do. Now here we are over a quarter century later, and we all know where this dude is at and what he has accomplished by doing that. If I can micro-manage that in my life and accomplish something similar in my own way, I have done it, man. When I see someone like Ian saying what he says and how he said it, I know that I am doing just that.

first off I don't work for CND or Attac or any other political group, I've been on this mailing list for ages, and I've always used Dr_Rock as my screen name, not just for this list but for others too. Secondly I don't see how promoting non-violence is an insult to the loss of innocent lifes. 3rd... I don't just use western media as a source to know the situation in asian... so I probably know more about the war than most people. the CIA trained Asama bin Laden needs to be brought to justice, if only so we (few) who want total freedom on this planet can dismantle terrorist networks, even those which america as been subsidising with the IMF and world bank. I don't think he (Bin Laden) can be cured of his fudamentalist ideas, nor can the Taliban so they should be locked up. if they resist then they'll die - fine by me. The problam with the bombing in afganistan is that it's killing the wrong people, including children.

I don't know how some of you could beleive that I supported the WTC attack, or even that I didn't care about what happened! I do, and if I write about it on this list and others it is because it affects everyone, including Motorhead fans! Just remember that Al-kayder only got so powerful because america trained and subsidised them, so that they could defeat Communism, Frankeinstein's monster has turned on the creator

Hi there,
just a quick line, to say that I really enjoy you Motorhead site, I am new to the land of computers so I have only
recently been able to get the net.
I have been a fan of the band since I saw them in 1978 at Poole Arts Centre (England) and have seen them another 48 times since, and my ears are fine !!, I have an extensive collection, ranging from the Stiff BUY9 single to test pressings etc, I recently found a great CD bootleg called "Gonna make your ears bleed", its from the four piece line up era, when the band used to start with "Dr Rock", some real gems on it . A fantastic version of "Voices in the sky". Well worth getting hold of. Unforunately I couldn't get to the 25th anniversary show, but the DVD should make up for that, its released here on 17th November, I managed to see the band at Guildford festival last year, absolutely awesome. But a year is too long, hopefully they will do some dates over here soon !!
O.k, thanks again for doing the site, it's nice to see some decent info on the band.
Best Wishes
Ed Evans

Just logged imhead and saw the frontpage with the artwork for 25alive.

As I do not use Bill & Ted verbs like awesome, excellent and kewl, I should comment that the phrase "fucking great" was the first thing I did of think there then now then. But did I not see an Ace Of Spade or Bomber thing in there. I think Overkill is in there somewhere.

Anyways, this is a very solid start to our shirt design without having to do much at all.

Bloody great.

PS Now come on you artyfarties!!!!!

Then there now then there you are then now then there then now. There then. Oh bollocks.

Great with the Tour Through Time Section. But was the Zurichgig really recorded in Zurich in 1983? If you look in Burridge?s Illustrated Collectors Guide (and I think it?s the same in the Past Tour Dates section on the webside) there?s no gig in Zurich in 1983. And the gig opens with Iron Fist which indicate that the gig was recorded already in 1982. The whole set list resembles the Mad Max bootleg and the Beware of the Dog bootleg from 1982. But there is no gig in Zurich with Robbo in 1982 either. Maybe it?s been missed. My guess is that it should be before or after Vienna 7/11 1982? I havn?t listened to the whole gig yet and maybe everything will be evident when I do? Maybe anybody who has listened to the whole thing can tell the setlist and if Lemmy mentions where the gig is, apart from that it is in Switzerland?

all the best

**Ace: I was a little perplexed at that as well. But the insert on the cassette that Lemmy gave me says Zurick.

Hi Ace and everyone

I really just wanted to say this to Kate and Matias who wrote last time:

"Sorry but writing English isn't easy for me !!!"
"Im sorry about my english, but, well...is the best i can do..."
Please, you do not need to apologise about your English. Your English is FINE! It doesn't need to be perfect because nobody else's is. We all understand what you're saying and I for one value your words (I hope I speak for us all) and to be honest how many of us limeys and yanks speak any other languages apart from English? Not many I bet. Respect to you and anyone else who's got the guts.

Speaking of guts, I see Dr Rock got a slating last time from some folks. I must say that although this is NOT the place for it, he did make some valid points which would make a good, healthy discussion somewhere else - but not on a Motorhead site.

As far as the Motorhead stance on the evils of religion, politics, war, corporate power and the intolerance of the greedy, just look at the lyrics to songs such as 'Orgasmatron', 'On Your Feet Or On Your Knees', 'Take The Blame' and 'Just 'Cos You Got The Power, That Don't Mean You Got The Right'.

Ohhhhh yes, Brothers aaannnd Sisters!!!! There is wisdom in the words of the bard Kilmister. But, we all see things our own way right? Who could have put it better than Rik v Goethem when he said: "Free your mind, create your own opinion, kill the system, break the laws. Listen to Motorhead"

I'm with you 100% on that one mate - you restore my faith in the next generation. Finally, Ace, I'd like one of your Tshirts but do we really have to fuck around with credit cards and Pay Pal shit? Can't I just send you a check? Come back on that one now.

Dirty Love to all

Subject: another perfect archive tape

Hi Ace

Thanks for this great tape from Switzerland in 1983 at the Another Perfect Day Tour, which I was part in the audience as a 15 year old Heavy Metal Crack! Please (very important) tell Lemmy that Killer the Band he mentioned on this tape is about to make a one off gig here around! I m in contact with the Bandfounder and although this band has split up for about 17 years, it is great to watch back and enjoy this one Reunion Show! Is there any chance to get this tape officially sometime on CD? Ohhh what a great event that was back in 1983 when we (a friend and me) witnessed how Brain Robbie nearly got killed as he watched the street in the "wrong" direction as they came from the right and not the left! Brain was really angry!! And how sinister Lemmy stared at us when we kids followed him to the doorstep of a casino in Zurich where we (only 15 and 16 years old) where not allowed in! From this doorstep we watched Lemmy lighting a cigarette and he was staring and scaring us, so we ran away!! 3 years later I shook his hand backstage at a TV Show recording for Swiss TV! Motorheads Album "No Sleep at Hammersmith" is the best of all time for me now! I heard this record probably more than 2000 (twothousand) Times in my life (this is true)!! Alone in 1981 every day 2 or 3 times from May! It would be great to meet Lemmy again sometime if there is a chance! I m one or I can say the biggest NWOBHM supporter of Switzerland in which period (although Motorhead was not part of this) the best Albums of this great band saw the light of the day! Not everybody agrees on this, but who cares! I have a question for Lemmy asked already! Hope he feels fit to answer it!

Best Wishes to Lemmy and the Motorhead Crew!!!!
P.S. I can t wait for the DVD of the great 25th Anniversary Show! Still got a balloon!!

This is my first post to the list, so hi everyone!

I only got into Motorhead in recent years, having always foolishly dismissed them as a metal band, without having heard them. Now I'm totally hooked! The trouble is, my fiance just left me, taking the entire Motorhead collection (well, they were mostly his, after all!), so I'm left pretty much bereft of anything to listen to. However, I obviously want to build up a collection of my own, but being a vinyl junkie, I'd prefer to get as much as I can in that format...So...Can any kind person tell me which of the later albums were released on vinyl (obviously the pre-CD days ones were!) and do you know if any are still available in the UK, and from where. I'm especially keen to get 'March or Die', 'Bastards' and 'Overnight Sensation' and the live in Hamburg album (the name of which eludes me - I'm sorry! Don't lynch me!)

Anyway, enough ramble! Hope you can help!

12th December is the birthday of one of Motorhead's closest associates, Nina C. Alice, the vocalist of Skew Siskin, a band involved with Motorhead in many ways. German fans will be familiar with Nina from her guest appearances at Motorhead shows over the years, especially last year when she toured with the band as guest vocalist.

Anybody who wants to send her birthday greetings may do so by emailing me, as webmaster for Skew Siskin, and I'll gladly forward them onto her. Sned emails to SarmadSheikh@cs.com and put "Nina's birthday" on the subject line.

UK fans will remember her from the London Astoria shows in 1999. She's who Lemmy originally wrote the song "Born To Raise Hell" for. Lemmy describes her as "The voice behind the smile", "a cross between Janis Joplin and Bon Scott". Press describe her as a female singer with a great voice and an attitude. Anyone who's seen her onstage or heard Skew Siskin's records will agree. (Check out http://www.skewsiskin.com for more info on this band)

Greetings fellow bonce-bouncers, following up on the query about Lemmy's movie appaearances, he also appeared as the taxi-driver in hardware and recommended his fare check out the band playing on the radio (no prizes for guessing the band - think they were playing "Ace..."). The movie came out - straight to video deal I think - 10 years or so back and you might well find it on bargain bin sale or budget DVD if it's found a new life again.

As for the songs, I have to say I think 1916 is one of the strongest lyrics I've heard by any band full stop. Don't know about the worst they've done, but out of the many they've put out, all I can say is I have some that are critical in any MH fave song list and then there's the rest. Interesting that the guy who first posed the question reckons that 1916's the worst too - must be the cellos....!!!

By the by a huge and utterly MASSIVE thanks to Mike McIntyre who gave me the biggest I've had in ages with the mental image of Her Maj the Queen giving it out where the sun doesn't shine (presumably a small room in Buckingham Palace before I'm sent to the Bloody Tower) - the man's a class act although I wish he'd stop holding back: let it all out Mike, don't hold back, just say what you feel, nobody'll mind. No really, just go for it!

Best wishes all for a Motormungous fabbalappalopolous Christmas and likewise Hogmanay!

I have been thinking about it since a couple of years. The right people for us are at CLONAID.COM. I am sure we are all in the position to guarantee Lemmy's cloning now (and then Phil and Mikkey), I believe that you can found a Motorhead fund at your nearest bank. We just have altogether to collect 200.000 $ which means, for everyone of us OS users, to give only 60 $ or so. 60 $, I say boys and girls, it's just like to buy three t-shirts or three cd's.... We can guarantee ourselves to attend Motorhead shows for this whole new century!!!! (we are the future baby, we used to be the past, we are Motorhead, cloned to kick your ass!).
Ace, I trust in your concern to mobilize the fans all over the world for a massive participation. Let me know. :-)

I have to thank you for putting that live performance from the Robbo years up on the web for all to listen to. I love the the APD album and have always thought it an undiscovered classic, but.... that live show from Zurich showed that Robbo may have been able to perform in the studio but live he was appalling. Simple as that. He cannot even begin to compete with Phil live or on record.

The funniest bit is where he appears to be tuning up but it sounds like bloody wind-chimes. Thank god he didn't last long and thank god for Phil!!
