Total Motorheadbangers Receiving This Issue: 3500

Subject: os: delays, delays

Greetings Fellow Motorheadbangers!!

Well, first off I must explain the delays in the current issue of OS. I recently moved residences within Los Angeles. This process is, by far, one of the tasks of life that I loathe the most. As a result of the chaos that this process always brings about, I have been heglecting some important issues like this newsletter. I have also been delayed in filling orders from the Motorheadshop, so all of you please be patient. I will fill as many orders as I can today and the balance tomorrow.

Anyway, I am still surrounded by boxes, but life is returning to normal. Things should be back on track and OS should be back on schedule.

Some great news for Los Angeles Motorheadbangers. The boys are coming back here to continue work on their new album in the fall. As a result, they have decided to play a couple of local gigs while they are here. So, October 3rd will see them storming the stage at the House of Blues on Sunset Strip on October 3rd. On October 4th, they will perform at the new house of Blues in Anaheim. It is possible that they will play other So Cal gigs, but so far, these are all the shows that have been officially booked.

These shows will be the only North American shows for this year. They want to finish the new album before they launch a full scale US tour.

July 6th markes the 4th Anniversary of this wonderful little family of ours! Four years since the first issue of Overnight Sensation was emailed out to Motorheadbangers across the world. I really just wanted to say thank you to all of you for your constant support and input. I know there are some of you that have been here since the first issue. I also know that some of you are new. To all of you I want to say this... OS has been one of the best experiences of my life. It has allowed me to meet some of the best fans in the world, all over the world. You are all very special to me and I am honored to be involved with this project. Keep the metal fires burning!

I have finally managed to added a picture of the Girls style Baby Tee to the Motorheadshop. Also, I have finally replaced the image for the classic "Motorhead England" shirt with the black version. The brown version is no longer avialable.

Non-Motorhead Items

Over the past year, I have managed to lay my hands on a few interesting items that I thought might interest fans of Motorhead. I have created a new section of the "Motorheadshop" that features items from the likes of Judas Priest, the Scorpions and more! I also just added some cool Iron Maiden items. Remember, all of the sales from these items go to support the website. Take a moment to have a look.

As some of you know, there have been some cancellations of festivals in Europe due to health concerns. Here is an up-to-date tour date list:

Sat 07/08/01 Belfort, France Les Eurokeenes Festival
Fri 07/14/01 Switzerland Gurten Festival
Fri 07/21/01 Faro, Portugal Bikers Festival
Fri 08/04/01 Germany Wacken Open Air Festival

10/3/01 West hollywood House of Blues
10/4/01 Anaheim House of Blues

Still a few left. If you want projects like this in the future, please support the effort and buy one. To order one (or several as many of you did last time), please go to http://www.imotorhead.com/tshirt2000.htm

Have an awesome week!

Dear Ace,

I wonder if the folks might be interesed in this.
It-s a new cd by Judge Trev (Inner City Unit), old aquaintance of Lemmy and fellow GWR artist. It features performances by Algy Ward (Tank), Nik Turner, and Kofi Baker(son of ginger). It Rocks Like Hell!!!

More stuff can be got from http://realferstivalmusic.co.uk our new website.

REVOLUTION AND REBELLION Inner City Unit/Atomgods The revolutionary works of Judge trev T masterpiece!

Jerry Kranitz - Aural Innovations radio show........................Love it man!

Mike Coleman Deltawave distribution*************

also.....popped the CD "revolution and rebellion" by Trev in, just to see if he really put tunes on my copy, and I kid you NOT.....everything in the room including me, got bashed over the head......

couldn't turn the thing off for the life of me, despite it being daytime, and no beer.....

I say this stuff, not because he (judge) insults me with language even the nastiest of we Americans don't even use, but because it's a rip-roaring great CD........

It's got perfect transitions between songs, and includes wonderful stuff not before on disc........... it includes tracks from the VERY RARE "WOW" LP, not the least of which is the track "Atlantic Waves", and, aside from being magnificent, has a WONDERFUL DOSE of Nik Turner flute in it....... I thought at least one of you might like to know this.......

The question: who recorded (a known group) a resumption of the title Another Perfect Day?

All that I know it is that this cd went out in 1998 !!!
Thank you very much!!!

This is in response to Mike McIntyre noticing that Tyler Houston of the Milwaukee Brewers comes to bat using "The Game" as his "theme song." Mike and all other Motorheadbangers will be pleased to hear that when Houston stepped to the plate for his first at-bat June 6 at Miller Park against the Reds, he again used "The Game" for his entrance. As Lemmy growled, Houston proceeded to hit a double to left field. On his next at-bat, he used "The Game" and hit a FUCKING HOME RUN! Surprisingly, his third at bat was introduced with a crummy old Cab Calloway tune and Houston subsequently popped out unceremoniusly to right. Ahhh...the power of Motorhead!

They're at http://fullspeed.to/motopixhttp://members.fortunecity.com/motopix/ in case the damn slow redirecting service is down).

This is not supposed to be any permanent site, they're there just to share them with you all. So if anyone's interested, copy these to another more permanent site.

My total favorites are "Motoscan12" (in 80's the bands at least knew how to pose for the camera) and "MotoScan05" with Wurzel's awesome Bad News imitation. Or is it an imitation?

"Another Perfect Day - totally underrated!"

Subject: motorhead - the forum 23 may 2001

Dear Ace,

It was hot and sunny in London on the 23rd. We trooped up to the Forum early in the afternoon, sinking beers on the way to keep us lubricated. Bumped into Sarmad in the pub before heading off to the venue.

The soundcheck was due to start at 4pm. After much screwing around, the set was ready about an hour late. First Mikkey started on the drums - then Phil picked up his guitar and threw out a few chords. Lemmy walked on stage and the guys blasted into the first 3 bars of 'Traitor', stopped, and Lemmy turned around for a quick chat with Phil and Mikkey. Then they did it again. And again. Then, without warning, our boys launched into 'Shoot you in the Back'. Lemmy turned to the side of the stage and grunted 'It's not fucking loud enough!'. More sound tweaking for a couple of minutes and then 'Motorhead'. I hadn't heard that live for years! The song ended and Lemmy started moaning about it. Mikkey said that he thought it had gone down well the night before and that they should play it again. Lemmy wasn't sure and we were all left in suspense...

Psycho squad supported and that seemed to go down fairy well although most of the rivetheads were still in the pub. At 8.45 the lights went down, Lemmy walked on stage to the grateful roar of the London audience. 'We are Motorhead' he said 'And we're gonna fuck you up!' As seems to be tradition these days, they kicked off with 'We Are Motorhead', then 'Bomber', 'No Class' and 'I'm So Bad'. Then it quietened down with 'Over Your Shoulder' - but not for long; 'Civil War', 'Metropolis' and 'Shoot You In The Back' (hang on - didn't we hear that at the soundcheck!). Just as they kicked into 'God Save The Queen' a massive Union Jack flag appeared at the front with the Motorhead logo all the way across it, muck to Lemmy's liking. It floated across the front of the audience during 'Born To Raise Hell' and 'Damage Case' before being lost to the crowd for ever! Then 'Sacrifice' and 'Orgasmatron' before Lemmy paid tribute to Joey Ramone. Finally, 'Going to Brazil', 'Iron Fist' and 'Kille! d By Death' before a 5 minute tea break backstage. Just for a change, back they came for 'Ace of Spades'. We all knew what was coming next, of course. 'Are you ready?' growled Lemmy - 'Overkill'.

Another treck home bruised, ears ringing, generally fucked up, Great, isn't it?

Subject: the nazi debate, and why it should stop.

I wanted to address Peter Ossewaarde's comments on this topic. I want a better explanation for why one ancient symbol "can, and will, hurt Motorhead's future". Stop patting yourself on the back for knowing what's best for Lemmy. I am not a Nazi Sympathizer. You claim you know Lemmy is not as well. You also claim that you think he's intelligent. You must not think he's so intelligent if he needs to look at things YOUR way. What are they going to get out of this, bad record sales? lol.
Lemmy does not have a responsibility to publicly distance himself from these symbols as you claim he should. Do not put the man on a pedestal that he didn't ask to be put on. That shouldn't be done to anyone. Let the ignorant be ignorant if they choose to stay close-minded. Remember that an object only has as much value as you place on it. There were great intentions in your e-mail. I just don't feel Lemmy (or anybody) should police himself anymore after he's made many clear statements that he disagree's with their ideology. I hope this e-mail is not taken the wrong way. Peter, if you ever get the chance to meet Lemmy, ask him if he thinks he has certain responsibilities you think he should have. You might be shocked at the answer you'd receive.

I dont know how many complications or live recordings i have seen or boght that have the same songs on it, the only difrens is the record companys name on it.The way i see it is that the record company trying to make a easy buk on the classic motorhead songs. I think that the band have nothing to do thith these albums. The songs i am talking about is Ace of spades, Overkill, Ironfist and so on. Iwould love to see a complication that only consisted on songs from the 90s and 80s.

Subject: o.s.: killed by death - a memory

Dear Overnight Sensation,
There's been a bit of a debate on the merits of"Killed By Death," both pro and con. For me, that song carries a certain memory for me. A few weeks ago, one of my best friends, Bobby Ebz, died. He was the singer for Genocide, one of the most outrageous bands ever, in Central New Jersey. I was privileged to have been selected as Genocidal MC for their shows.
One night when they played at Zaffy's in Piscataway, NJ, they did "Killed By Death" (Bobby knew I was a big Motorhead fan), and for the chorus, he got me up on stage to join in with him, arms around each others' shoulders in true rock'n'roll cameraderie. We did this several times at various gigs, and it was a fun thing to do, and now that Bobby's gone, that memory will always be with me whenever I hear that song.
Bobby, I'll miss you.

Some time ago there was interview of Motorhead in the Finnish Metal magazine Suomi Finland Perkele and they were asked exactly the same question.

Here's that part of the interview freely translated from Finnish into English:

Q: How's your old drummer Philthy Animal Taylor?

Lemmy: I think he's a crackdealer in LA. He hasn't got a proper job.
Mikkey: He's a bum. Got sacked from the fucking shit garageband as well.

Can't say whether that's true or not, but maybe it is if they have said so...

BTW, if anyone is interested in seeing the whole interview freely translated, I can post it later.

PS. Motorhead really kicked arse 26th May in London. Gonna go and see them in DK on July as well, lucky me ;-)

How many chinese soldiers were killed by japanese soldiers with no mercy??
How many german soldiers were killed by russian soldiers with no mercy??
In Dresden more than 80.000 people were killed. More than 50 million people died at Second World War.
People talk about Nazi crimes, but the fact, all the nations were involved in war crimes. Im not a nazi, just a student about war, but like Lemmy, i like Nazi Regalia, war american stuffs, etc. Not Political or ideology. I know, its hard to make people understand something like this, and if song is better or not, or if Lemmy need to stop to wear nazi dressing=or not, people will round in circle, because Lemmy wears stuffs like this only 25 years or more, and he has his own ideas. When I got my Arca Max Today In Music History thing for Thursday, June 21 (21 June), I expected the usual hodgepodge of bullshit in it. I was not disappointed in many ways. It told me that it was the birthday of the likes of O.C. Smith (who?), Ray Davies, Chris Britton, Joey Kramer, and Nils Lofgren (Yuck!). Then it told me all of the great happenings in rock and roll on this date. Things like how in 1948, Columbia records began mass production of the 33 1/3 rpm album. How in 1958, Sly Stone misssed his first concert, and in 1973 Bread played its last concert in Salt Lake City, a cause for celebration throughout the world. It said that in 1975, Ritchie Blackmore quit Deep Purple to form Rainbow, which was the same day that 120,000 people went to London's Wembley Stadium to see Elton John, The Eagles, Rufus, and Joe Walsh. They must have had real cheap tickets to have so many go and see that fuckin' dogshit bill. However, there was one dude in London that didn't go to that show, because it also told me that on that same day that " bass player Lemmy-real name Ian Kilmister- left Hawkwind to form Motorhead". At least someone in that city had some good sense that day.
So fuck Bread and The Eagles and Joe Walsh and Sly Stone and O.C. Smith ( who??) and Nils Lofgren ( YUCK!!), because only Lemmy gave us any reason to remember that day as a watershed day in rock and roll history. The rest of that shit has faded into the mists of time, to only be resurrected in an e-mail for trivial purposes. Lemmy and the band that he created on that day in 1975 are still as strong a force as ever, and that is the only real cause for celebration on this day.

this is probaly a long shot but i thought i would try.

i run a small new record label, lenin imports uk, which sales on the internet and to shops and online merchants like AMAZON throught our distributor, Caroline (Virgin). we specialise in releasing ambient, avant garde musicians & respected artists whose work might not otherwise have come out.

our last 2 releases have been selling well. they have both been by bill nelson (ex-be bop deluxe and who has worked with notable artists like david sylvian, robert fripp & gary numan among others).

details of these albums can be found on amazon by clicking the links below:
bill nelson - whistling while the world turns

bill nelson - simplex

both albums have reveived favourable reviews in magazines such as 'q', 'record collector' & 'the wire' among others.

the webiste address is: http://www.netcomuk.co.uk/~lenin

i have long been a fan of motorhead's & lemmy's work and would love to release some of it. perhaps, stuff that didn't make it onto albums or stuff that could be released as a fan club release as other artists do.
if you would like samples of our release or further details please do not hesitate to contact me.

But luckilly Megadeth could swap places with Motorhead so everything was still ok. then right after Megadeth you really have to be searching for a place if you want to see Motorhead from close. And the festival was really crawling with motorhead fans. Then Lemmy came on the stage everbody shouting Motorhead, lemmmy, Motorhead. Then they said We are Motorhead and we are gonna fuck you up(or something like that). And started with We Are Motorhead, everyone was singing along. Then they played Bomber, No Class, R.A.M.O.N.E.S., after that i think that Sacrifice came with an excellent drum solo of Mikkey. After Sacrifice came i can't really remember what they played but i do know that Killed by Death had a short but good solo. Then offcourse came Ace of Spades and then Overkill. And everbody was going crazy when Motrhead played on the bands before i hadnt seen the crowd go that wild.
At the concert i really think that Primal Fear, Motrhead and Judas Priest were the best. And Cradle of Filth sucked real bad. The guitar work was ok. But the vocals were real bad he was not singing he was just shouting in the microfoon.

Motrhead really rocks live!!
and for the fans who want to know if the bomber playset is coming to wacken-open-air i saw on the flyer of wacken-open-air that it would be there.

I got an e-mail today that directed me to go to http://www.firebox.com There, I was directed to see the newest bargain that they have there, The Orgasmatron. I was looking for Motorhead, but all that they had was this eight-pronged thing for giving head and neck massages or some such bullshit.
I took umbrage at this, for making me think that something Motorhead was afoot and then showing me some cheap fuckin' gadget is yet another disservice to the great name of Lemmy and Motorhead. Even though Lemmy didn't invent that term, it is associated with him, and I bet that the brillianrt genius that invented this thing had that in mind when he named his creation, for this site is in England, where all things Motorhead are more prevalent than most anywhere else on this planet. Fuck this cheap-ass Orgasmatron gadget thing, give me the Motorhead Orgasmatron any time!

I have a question any of you could answer. ==Why are the track listings different on the back ===
of english albums. On your site it says born to raise hell is on the best of Motorhead. Over here we get snake bite love ===why? ==snake bite love is still good though but not as good as born to raise hell

Thanks ===Steve

Hi there,
I had the chance to Interview Angyr Anderson at the Bang Your Head Festival in Germany 6/29/01. I admit that has nothing to do with MH in particular, but we talked about MH and I think that many of you like the Tatts anyway. So read it or leave it.

FM: Well, Angry that`s your third reunion in 19 years. Will you stay together this time?

Angry: We went different ways for quite a few years. In the late 80`s I was in America doing an Album for myself. And I rang up the boys, this is 1988/99 , I rang up the Boys and I said would you like to get the Band...what?(somebody enters the trailer looking for a Coke). So anyway, I rang`em up and I said, O.K., get the Band, come back and find America. But Digger, the drummer died in 1989. He was trying to clean, He was cleanig himself from Heroin and he got cancer and he died. So we said, we dont wanna do it because he died, too painful. We didnt want to think about it. In 1992 GunsnRoses asked. First time we said no, second time we said we play, yeah ok. And I said to Peter: Maybe we should find another drummer. If we find the right one, not to still Guns`n`Roses, but to come back together with the Band. He Said: Alright if we find the right drummer we can do that. And we found Paul, he played with Pete before and me in different Bands. And it worked very, very well, so we thought from now when we will, so from 92 you now, the Band has been playing together every year.

FM: Oh really? Because the official Band Biography says that you split after the Guns nRoses Tour.

Angry: No, we never actually split up. We just didn`t do it for a few years, that`s different. Some Bands say ok, the printed press, were splitting up, its released. We never did that.

FM: So you have any plans for the future?

Angry: Well, thats very difficult. You see, if youre a fulltime Band, if thats all you do, you can make plans for six months, for four months, for two years, for three years. If thats all you do, but we all do different things. We all play in different Bands, different things. We can only make plans for Rose Tattoo, some time. Right now we dont have any plans. Two plans, sketching, maybe, I said maybe we do an Album next year. I think so, I think we probably will. And we gonna come back on Tour next year.

FM: Wintertime?

Angry: Yeah, July, August.

FM: Eh..

Angry: Summer

FM: But you cant say definitely that there will be another Album?

Angry: I think its very likely. I think its a Natural progression. If I gonna keep doing it. As a Band you wanna write new material, and you wanna record your material. We hate recording anyway but it is a necessary part.

FM: It shouldnt be too difficult for you to get together some new material.

Angry: Its not difficult. It doesnt matter. You see, we never set out to make records, were still out to play, you know. We wanna play, thats what we do.

FM: But dont you think that the people want a new Album after all the years?

Angry: So, the Album will only be..., yes we have new songs on an Album, so people can have them. But to us the important thing is... Look, most Bands, the important thing is not the records, not the sounds, its playing.

FM: Dont you fear that people might think, that you only want to make some quick money with the touring, if you dont release some new material?

Angry: We will see. We will see what it sounds like first. You See, Rob plays Country Music, Pete plays Blues, Steven plays Heavy Metal. I sometimes play with Micks Band or my own Bands. Ive done a Heavy Rock Band with Rob. So I dont know how another Rose Tattoo Album would Sound like, but it would be very interesting to find out. So we will see. We will sew it first. And if it sounds good, if it sounds like should be Rose Tattoo album, then we will release it.

FM: Now to something completely different. Are you familiar with these new Rockn`Roll Bands from Europe, like The Hellacopters or Gluecifer?

Angry: Yeah, the Hellacopters are good. I like D.A.D.. Sideone(?) is a good Band. The Band we were working with lately, the Backstreetgirls, they rock, they are a good Band. My Kids are listening to Lincoln Park. My favourite Band in the moment is Rammstein.

FM: Oh, is it?

Angry: Oh yeah (laughs). Good Music, but really good clips.

FM: From my point of view they are not very original.

Angry: Why not original? Very, very unique, very dramatic. It combines all the really, really good elements of Rockn`Roll. Very dramatic, good riffs, good rhythm, good music, good riffs, but good things to say, clever words.

FM: Very interesting that you like this Band. What you think about the development of RocknRoll Music during last Decade. After the GunsnRoses split the whole Scene faded away (Angry looks discerning). Eh, they where RocknRoll, in a way, no?

Angry: (Laughs) Well, a little bit. In the beginning. Skid Row where good. Early Guns where good, but they became too..., you know.

FM: What about AC/DC an Motrhead these Bands are still doing well...

Angry: They are still doing the same thing.

FM: Thats a way of being true.

Angry: Well, it is. Its kinda like, you know, if you really think what you do is the best you can do, than thats what you should do. You shouldnt try just please, please who. You know if you dont please yourself youre not pleasing anybody. Mediocrety is the biggest selling commodity in the world. But who wants to be mediocre? You know, mediocre, not good not bad, in the middle. Thats the problem. Pop Music is mediocre. Pop Music is for everybody. It doesnt offend anybody, doesnt leave anybody out, its aiding campuses, you know. Thats not to say thats not good, Pop Music is good, good Pop Music is fabulous. Abba, The Beatles, like classic Pop Music is fantastic. Cool mate?

FM: Yeah, thanks a lot.
