Subject: os: 25th anniversary show report

Greetings Fellow Motorheadbangers!!

I have spent most of the weekend finally finishing the story of my adventure to England for the 25th Anniversary show. There are a couple of picture galleries yet to follow that will be uploaded real soon (maybe today). I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing and living it.

In addition to this, when I was in London, I had the chance to sit down and interview Larry Wallis. As a founding member of Motorhead, it was interesting to hear about his past, present and future. That interview is in Real Audio and is avaialble now.

Both features are located in the special features section of the website.

Well, Koch Records also followed suit and got ticked at me for posting the Twisted Sister cover song. So, it is now gone as well. If you managed to get it before it was gone, good for you. You can still get it on the new WWF music CD available by visiting http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B000056NM9/blastmagazine0c

I have a few of these shirts left and I have a special offer for all OS list members. Until the end of February 2001, if you order an OS2K shirt, you can take 20% off any of the other items that you order from the Motorheadshop. They have to be on the same order.

Also, if you want to buy more then one OS2K shirt, I have a special offer for you to indulge in. Until the end of Feb 2001, anyone that wants to buy more then one OS2K shirt can have them for $20 each. This only applies if you are purchasing two or more. If you have already bought one and would like more, the offer on the additional shirts is open to you as well. you wil have to add the approriate shipping and handling.

The first edition of these shirts sold out quickly and have become one of the most desirable and rare Motorhead t-shirt collectable known! Don't miss out on this edition!! If you are interested in a shirt and are worried about the deadline, please email me conformation that you are sending an order and I will make sure your choice gets included in the mix.

To order one (or several as many of you did last time), please go to http://www.imotorhead.com/tshirt2000.htm

>but the lyrics are a bit braindead. "the only time >I'm easy is when I'm
>killed by death"?

Aren't those lyrics intended to be an ironic reference to something Spike Milligan wrote? Might be wrong but I'm sure I read it somewhere....I think in the inlay to Everything Louder...

>Devils, I Don't Believe A Word, Shake The World, Dead and Gone, 1916, One
>More Fucking Time. I could go on.

Devils kicks major ass. OMFT would be awesome live.

>Has anyone else heard that
>Lemmy is supposed to be in this movie called "Die You Zombie Bastards!"

Is that a tromo film? I knew he was in tromeo... and I also saw another tromo flick called "terror firma". Lems part was hilarious but the rest of the film was the sickest piece of shit I've ever seen. Worth it for Lem though- Die You Zombie Bastards sound like a tromo film....

>Ok, if the band don't care so much about their site, is Ace the only person
>who has to care? Probably not! What about the band management??? What the
>r they doing?

Couldn't agree more. The management don't seem to realise the potential of the net as a marketing tool- but what about other bands they promote? Is it just Motorhead? Even when they print the addresses on the sleeves they miss off the "www" (a niggling point I know but it doesn't look too good) and bugger up the fan club's postcode 5 ALBUMS ON THE TROT! This means all the mail takes much longer to arrive if it ever does. Not too good for the bands image, I think.

What do you reckon Ace, is this the managements responsibility?

**Ace: The management gives me a lot of support in making and maintaining the site.

Hey All. Regarding Killed By Death, I think it's a cool tune, but to fully apreciate the power of it, I highly recommend a live version, preferably from No Sleep at All. The studio version's ok, but can't compare to the live version.

On another note, I thought it would be cool if we could point out where we=spotted Motorhead stuff in odd places, like people on TV wearing the shirts and stuff. I've got a couple 1. Dave Grohl of the Foo Fighters Wears the classic Motorhead England shirt a lot. I saw him in Rolling Stone toilet paper (err magazine) once and in a video. 2. Slash, ex of GnR also wears the shirt. I saw it in the video for Welcome to the Jungle off the live album. 3. In the movie Outbreak the guy who starts the plague is wearing a March or Die shirt. 4. This one is kind of gross, but in this disgusting documentary on HBO about heroin addicts this one girl was wearing a 'head shirt. It was kinda chopped up so I didn't recognize which one it was just the logo and the Snaggletooth. Ironically enough this girl was the only addict profiled to actually stay clean.

Until later, Kelly H.

Ok I have a problem I hope someone can help me out with. On eBay I recently bought a motorhead lighter that I thought was a genuine Zippo type motorhead licensced product. Well when I get the damn thing its a cheap ass metal lighter with a motorhead sticker stuck on it. Very shitty indeed, the damn sticker isn't even on straight! Now is this legal for this guy to sell? If it is I can slap a MH sticker on anything and sell it. He sells alot of these lighters with tons of old 70's and 80's bands on them. I really believe he is screwing folks over on purpose.

If this isn't legal can someone let me know how to get in touch with the MotorHead people who take care of this kind of stuff. I doubt they would like the sale of unauthorized merchandise.

PS I think Killed By Death is not one of MH's best songs. The best shit never makes it on the radio, which is hardly ever in the States, let alone Utah! And when the hell is MotorHead ever coming here. We finally got AC/DC but I want my MotorHead!

Justin LeCheminant

**Ace; it is illegal. I work for the merchandising company that handles Motorhead and we have lawyers that watch Ebay and other sites like it for sale on these illegal items. The reality is that the bigger acts have more material out there and therefore have more action taken. But, we do our fair share of lawsuits. The bottom line is that if you are buying on Ebay, it is a "Buyer Beware" situation.

I can give you a hand for the drum sticks: I tried to find out about three years ago because I couldn't find the same sticks in the shops... Then someone at Vic Firth answered that Mikkey's sticks were NOT on sale, the ones he were using were made exclusively for him! I don't know if they are available now. Mikkey was selling his sticks during the Overnight Sensation Tour for charity (but I got a pair used after a concert, he-he!), I think they are not on sale anymore, at least I didn't see them since the Snake Bite Love Tour, I simply suggest you to ask Mikkey himself.

I have this single too, my copy is the french version with Motorhead-England in black, if yours is in purple then it's the swedish one. It is the original recording made for Stiff but it is NOT the original edition, it is a semi-bootleg edition of Motorhead's first single (Stiff Records wasn't really interested in Motorhead). It was recorded at the Pebble Beach Studios, Worthing. Line up: Lemmy, Fast Eddie, Philthy Animal. Everybody will see the cover on the russian site as soon as Mike Lemster update it. As far as I know there is only one edition on CD, I have it since 1993 (Receiver Records RRSCD 1009). It's a two tracks CD with the cover of the original Stiff single. Good hunting.

I'm looking for their acoustic stuff. second, I heard triple H's song, well it's ok, but NOT a classical Motorhead song, plus it's hard to hear cos of them stupid commentators. I find wrestle rubbish anyway. but if it allows Motorhead to get more fans, that's fair enough.
thirdly their's a new soap on E4 and one of the girls had this 'weird' motorhead t-shirt on (thats all she had on, it was quite good) but instead of saying Motorhead, it was something else written on it (forgot what it was now) but it had an Umlaut. on the back it said "no sleep til [town in england which I've forgotten too]. I've seen loads of other refrences to Motorhead lately too, including a spice girl with a motorhead t-shirt ;) fourthly, Sorry you've had some hard times with the web site Ace, but you've got all our moral support. oh and "don't let them bastards grind you down".

I thought I was a Motorhead fan, until I subscribed to O.S. Some people who write in appear a lot more devoted to MH than I ever was.

I bought a yellow vinyl version of the Ace of Spades album around about 1980/81 and thought there was something a little different about the band and have bought most releases since.

Some who write in, however, seem to be treating following MH like some sort of cult.=

MH are just a group and Lemmy is just an ordinary man, who happens to play music the way I like it.

I read about some writers who say what songs should and shouldn't be played at gigs, I don't think it matters much, because apart from the Orgasmatron tour of 1986, all=the other gigs=I have been to have been too loud to really understand what was being played anyway.=

MH are not the group they were several years back either, if you compare for e.g. live versions of the No class songs on No Sleep T'ill Hammersmith and the latest German effort, they have declined a lot.

O.K. my depression is lifting!! I will admit that the studio albums=got a lot better=through-out the 1990's, Snake Bite was EX and so is We Are MH.

I still think they=were better sounding with two guitarists and not just Phil on his own.

Hey, Motorhead! I gotta ask you about the music that you composed for Triple H's new theme.

I NEED TO KNOW! I'm taking guitar in my school and I would love to know how to play it. Unfortunately, I don't have access to any 7 string guitars or electrics; our guitars are all acoustic. But I wouldn't care what I was playing on if I could just play the song! I'm desperate to know! Is there any way you can put up the tabs for the guitar part or give them to us, the people, the tabs on your website? I know it will be tough b/c you would have to ask the WWF, but can u still give it a shot? Thanks in advance for not only this, but all the years of kick ass metal!

As you can see, I have an obsession with this song. When I first heard it, I was blown away! I was expecting his original theme (that his "wife", Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley now uses) and when I heard "The Game" come on, my jaw dropped! I rewinded the tape over and over again so I could get it into my head and it hasn't left since. It is by far the BEST DAMN theme song for a wrestler that there ever was! You guys did an awesome job, and that isn't much of a surprise. Continue to make people deaf and kick some ass!!!!

If you go the official SmackDown records site at http://www.smackdownrecords.com and look at the promotional shit for the new WWF CD, you will see something interesting. In the shit that they say about The Game tune, they refer to it as a tune that is "covered" by Motorhead. Didn't this Triple H fucker go to Lemmy with the idea for the tune and have him help write the music and shit for it? That seems more like a collaboration to me than a cover of a song. Is Vince Mc Mahon just too much of a fuckin' chicken shit to admit that Motorhead is actually a part of one of his creations, not merely a vehicle for one? I think so. I find it impossible to believe that Mr. Levesque ( Triple H) wrote that music, that has Lemmy all over it. I took umbrage when I read this shit. Was I justified in doing so?
Michael Mc Intyre

Eddie also reveals he plans to return to the music world. "Well they [Motorhead] had this kind of twenty-fifth anniversary/birthday gig and Lemmy phoned me up and asked would I come along and 'Of course' I said. It was great for me because I hadn-t done it for a while with them. Hi Ace,

Glad to hear Lemmy's getting back on his feet now that he's finally listening to what the doctors have been saying for long enough. It was a shock but no great surprise to hear he'd been laid low - if that makes any sense.
Anyway, now that he's on the mend, which we're all chuffed to bits about, the news that the lads have added Glasgow Barrowlands to their itinerary in May to the other UK dates was a well pleasing sight. The gig in October 98 was a blinder, (although deafening would be more accurate I suppose), and one of the best and tightest performances by any band I've seen. I'd rate it higher than the Brixton gig in October as well both for band and crowd alike - depending on how you perform on a night, the Glasgow audience aren't exactly renowned for holding back very much, although they're probably an easier crowd now than a few years ago...(and that from someone from Edinburgh too)...newcomers to the venue beware!!!

The site's looking great - are you planning to get a hold of some of the band's recorded material for sale Ace? I've hunted high and low for the coloured vinyl pressings of Overkill and Ace of Spades in the UK but to no avail. You seem to be a bit handy at finding items like this for other merchandise so how about it it? Or are you restricted in what you can sell? For your info, the albums were released by Castle in the UK (I think although I should know by now...!) as part of their reissue of the band's earlier work.

Speaking of which, as a question for Lemmy, would you like to be in the position of Paul McCartney who bought the rights to his songs several years ago or, alternatively, would you like greater control over the application of your material if not 100% ownership? I only ask as there's barely a month going by without someone producing another compilation, re-release etc and it becomes hard for fans to know what's official and what's a cash-in. Equally, I am 100% aware that this isn't the fault of the band or Lemmy himself but the suits at the record company, so please don't get the impression I'm mudslinging the band for this output. Over the years labels like Receiver and Castle have churned stuff out (why does it have to be remastered with extra tracks that ruin the album's running order?!?!?! And if you have to remaster, why not stick with the original track running order, eh? Eh? EH?!?!?! Not that I'm narked or anything....). Anyway, this question's taking ages, so, errr, what d'you reckon?

All the best and good fortune

The name of the tape was "Deaf not Blind" and it had such classics as "The chase is better than the catch", and "Ace of spades". All attempts that I made to try to locate this tape came up empty. Do you know of a possible re-release of said tape? ( DVD would be fantastic! )
