Greetings Fellow Motorheadbangers!!

Sorry for the delay in the newsletter. I have been super busy. On the good side, the first issue of Razor magazine will be on newstands in Canada and the US in a few days. The second issue (out in a few weeks) will feature the first of a regular column that Lemmy will be proving. Having read the first one, I can tell you you are in for a nice treat.

* The 25th Anniversary show - As some of you know, I will be coming to London for the 25th Anniversary show. I wanted to put forth a request that I that I was hoping an OS member could help with... hotels are VERY expensive in London... are there any OS members that have a spare couch that I could stay on for the week I am in London? Or, are others visiting London and would like to share a hotel room (and the expense)? Drop me a line off-list if you are in a position to help me out.

* Castle Records has decided to release two more interesting Motorhead compilations. Here are the details:

Can it really be twenty-five years since Ian 'Lemmy' Kilmister first picked up a bass guitar in anger and inaugurated the Rock beast now known as Motrhead? Indeed so, and Castle Music celebrate this glorious anniversary with the release of two must-have collections.

'The Chase Is Better Than The Catch: The Singles A&B's' First up we have a ferocious twenty-four compilation which yokes together the band's single A and B sides, as recorded during their heyday with the Bronze Records label. Motrhead were the masters of the seven-inch single, distilling their fevered full metal racket to the dictates of the format brilliantly. Contained within are such unvarnished metallic classics as "Overkill", "Bomber" and "Ace of Spades", fiery speedfreak shards of heavy-duty musical mayhem. The joy of the classic Motrhead forty-five was often in flipping it over, where the listener finds more of the same, sulphuric guitar, clattering drums, a crunching underpinning of bass and topping it off Lemmy's increasingly unhinged vocal assault.

Go To http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00004X0T1/blastmagazine0c for info on pre-ordering this CD!

'Over The Top: The Rarities'

The Rarities is a twelve track round-up of lost gems from the mighty -head catalogue. It contains the likes of their Motrhead / Girlschool hit, "Please Don't Touch", incendiary alternate takes of "Louie Louie", "(Don't Let -Em) Grind You Down", as well as their version of the Johnny Burnett /Yardbirds classic, "Train Kept A-Rollin". No Motrhead fan will want to be without
this sizzling reminder of one of Metal's most revered of institutions.

Go To http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00004X0T2/blastmagazine0c for info on pre-ordering this CD!

* OS Y2K Shirts Contest- Response has picked up a bit. But, we still need some more orders to make this happen. If we don't pick things up, I will have to cancel the project. We need to print at least 100 shirts to make this worth while. This means that only one in 30 of you need to buy. So far there are about 25 orders. Come on people, lets get with it! This is
your list and you have to participate if you want special things like this to happen.

So, to give a few more of you incentive to participate, I will extend the deadline to Nov 15/00 and add a contest to the mix!

Everyone that gets their order for the new OS2K shirt in by Nov 15/00 will be entered into a draw to win some cool prizes including:

* A set of strings from Phil Campbell's guitar that were stage played. Phil has also signed the string package.

* A triple vinyl copy of the new "Best of Motorhead" release that includes a bonus 7" single and a special cover by Joe Petagno.

* A copy of the double CD set of the "Best of Motorhead" signed by Lemmy himself.

If you have already placed an order for the OS2K shirt, you will be automatically entered into the contest. Those of you that have not yet ordered, here is your chance to win some very cool prizes!

The second annual offering of the official OVERNIGHT SENSATION MAILING LIST T-SHIRT is upon us! We have a killer new design for this years image that is made exclusively for members of the OS list. As many of you that bought last year's shirt realize, the OS shirts are a great way for OS members to find each other at shows. This year's shirt features artwork by long time OS member Paul Higgins. Paul is also the graphics wizard that created many of the images that grace the official Motorhead website.

The first edition of these shirts sold out quickly and have become one of the most desirable and rare Motorhead t-shirt collectable known! Don't miss out on this edition!!

To order one (or several as many of you did last time), please go to http://www.imotorhead.com/tshirt2000.htm

* Razor Magazine will be presenting a webcast of Motorhead and Nashville Pussy's show from the Hollywood Palace. This will debut at http://www.razormagazine.com on Oct 15. This is also the website that will broadcast the final Colt 40 Fienberg show. For those of you that listen to Howard Stern's radio show, you will know who Colt is... Very funny stuff!

* TOUR DATES! Get you Tour Dates!

If there are any Motorheadbangers out there that can get me a copy of any of the posters used to promote gigs in their town, I would be grateful. A special thanks to all of you that have done so already. Please contact me off of list to arrange shipment. I think it would be cool to do a section in the gallery of nothing but posters. I need your help, please let me know if you are up to it! Thanks!

but i think the problem with the tshirt its the design, the last one had a medium rated front, but an awesome real kickin ass back!!!!! i boutgh it for this reason....

but i think the designs are not the porperly... motorhead fans want snaggletooth and motorhead, an england and born to lose, ace of spades, overkill, lemmy... or quotes like this... you know

i think thast the reson for the low succes. understand me well!, im not telling that you have done it wrong, you work hard to please all of us, and you do it always the best way... and all we know it...

but i think people want more classics designs....
thats all man....

i would have buy it if i have had the money... its the same shit that i cant go to london from south spain on 22 october because the fucking money... this life is always hard....

as always, thanks for all your work ace and keep doing the thigs so fine, and enjoy london 22 october for me man!!!!!!!!

Howdy Ace,
I saw the limited edition double vinyl w/7" version of The Best of Motorhead release(Red cover). How can I obtain such goodies? I'm quite a vinyl junkie, and this is the first record to come out in some time to spark my fire. Also, any word on the new tribute album/c.d. ? Thanks and keep up the good work with O.S.!!!!!!

**Ace: Well, enter the OS2K contest is one way. I see them on Ebay, so that is another. The tribute is now in the hands of awesome artist Paul Higgins... as soon as we can, we will post it.

ok, i know how you all feel about lemmy, but after seeing him on tv the other night i felt it has to be said that come across as an arrogant old man not willing to give anyone the time of day. The program reflected upon his favourite 10 songs etc, on british tv (bbc or itv whatever). maybe it was just the way he seemed pissed off, or pissed up i dunno. a few years ago i would have thought he was cool as fuck but....it was a little like when ozzy got fat, elvis got fat and drugged, etc.he just seemed to have lost some of his appeal. Dont get me wrong, i thank lemmy for writing my favourite songs yeah....but seeing him like that told me he's human like the rest of us. I get tired of reading lemmy this ..lemmy that... Its motorhead i listen to for gods sake, and while i'm harping on, why is there only lemmy on the cover of the new compilation...i hope to fuck it was the record comp's idea thats all !!!!!!! what happened, did someone just forget about mikky, phill, worz, philthy, brian, eddie, larry, and even lucas. fuck....why not rename the band lemmyhead. whats gonna happen next, lemmys solo album and then the split ? Sorry, but people going on about one person in the band alone have all one track minds (no pun intended). Yeah thats right,,, follow the rock god, fuck the rest. mikky and phill must be pissed off with the cover of that cd, if it where me i know i'd be pissed. disgruntledly PERCY

Oh dear John what a nasty chap you are........

I don't think it's the Band that set the the bloody booking fee, it's the tossing Venues. I ordered my tickets over the phone, 15 each but then got billed for about 35!!!!!! Five bloody pounds for somebody to fill in my order over the phone. It took about 1 minute. That's a good hourly rate!!!

It's not fair to call Lem a fat cunt when it's probably not his fault.
Too bad you're not gonna be there. I will and I'm sure it'll be fantastic.

Anyone loking to travel to the UK for the gig can check out http://www.ticketmaster.co.uk for tickets, likewise the http://www.metal-is.com site is also issuing them. Prices are 15 pounds sterling, but there's also the booking fee on top, so expect to pay between 16.50 and 18.00 or so.

Accommodation can be found through the British Tourist Authority's website at http://www.visitbritain.com and the official London internet site at http://www.londontown.com - just contact whichever place you fancy directly and take it from there. They also provide other info too so should be useful for visitors looking to stay for a few days (http://www.visitscotland.com is recommended for anyone looking to stay on a bit longer in the rest of the UK as well...!!!). All the accommodation listed is graded accordingly, so you'll get a decent idea of what standard of hotel/B&B/guest house (like a small hotel) to expect for your money.

I've never been to Brixton Academy and I live in Edinburgh, but it is in the SW9 area on Stockwell Road. There are tube stations nearby (around 3 or 4 I think), so travelling there shouldn't be difficult. As it's a Sunday night though, I haven't a clue when the buses/tubes generally wind down their services, so maybe someone from down there can help out.

One other thing - 15 quid for a gig isn't a high price to pay and it's hardly the band's fault the agencies slap on their booking fees on top, so why blame them?

Hope the travel arrangements go well!

Has anyone checked out fasteddieclarke.com ? It has some good Motorhead pictures on it. There is also a section totally dedicated to his Motorhead years, but it doesn't really say much. They speak of "ill health" plaguing Fastway. Is Eddie's health problematic? They speak of a dream of a reunion of the "classic" Motorhead line-up. Would a lot of fans really want to see that? How many are interested in Lemmy's playing with Hawkwind again? I wish that Hawkwind could come here to Chicago with Lemmy, that would be cool! But would it really be that much better to see Motorhead with Eddie than it is to see them as they are now? I'm not so sure myself. Lemmy rules and so does Motorhead!

I think that this is a disgrace to the legendary name of Lemmy and if we ever find the fuckhead that put this pitiful site up, I think that we should take his sorry ass and take him to the nearest Motorhead show and drag him right up front until his face is touching the amps as the band is blasting away at full volume and say " This is Lemmy, you fuckin' dork! Don't disgrace the name for it is a hallowed name!" What does everyone else think of this situation?

>stuff O.K. man!! Somebody tell me I really want it!!!!!!!!

There is another official live recording that nobody mentioned in the previous issue. This album is called "Live At Manchester Apollo 10.6.83", is totally green and has two more songs than "Live 1983" i.e. Heart Of Stone and Hoochie Coochie Man, this song should be the one that appears on the B-side of the Shine single. I have compared these two Hoochie Coochie Man and apparently are the same song but, with a different production. Also this "green live album" respect to "Live 1983" is a complete show, it contains the full set list of those days. Unfortunately this CD was released in only one thousand copies which make of this one, probably, the rarest Motorhead CD. It was edited by Dojo records which should be now defunct. It was edited in 1994 and was available only by mail order, I have it because they put an advice on the Motorheadbangers World magazine. People at Dojo numbered each copy up to 1000 so, Bill, I suggest you to ask for a copy putting an advice in this list or in the next issue of the MHB World mag.

Another not mentioned record is the "Beware The Dog" bootleg. The sound quality is excellent and you can find there the unreleased version of Nadine. This bootleg was pressed in Italy in summer 1991 and was recorded in Milano, November 17th 1983.

Good hunting!

Here's what I found on the knac.com - an interview with Dee Snider that may be interesting for us:

Exclusive Interview: Dee Snider Sounds Off About His Solo Compilation, Movie Career And The Chance Of A Twisted Sister Reunion
He also pays tribute to his friend and mentor, Motorhead's Lemmy Kilmister, on the album's ferocious opener, "Hard Core." "I owe him a debt of gratitude that I could never repay. He may think of it as the simplest of kindnesses but I still get choked up to this day when I think about it," says Snider, setting the scene for Twisted Sister's first show in England, at a festival in a football stadium on a bill headlined by Motorhead.

"Don't give me a string section, give me a power chord!"

"Here we are, it's '82, nobody's wearing makeup yet and we're getting ready to go on stage in the daylight. We heard stories of Anvil getting bottles thrown them because Lips was wearing a fishnet glove. And we're going on with makeup," Snider relates. "The guys wanted to take it off but I said, 'I'm not taking it off now, not after six years.' So Lemmy came in and said he was gonna introduce us. I could see people in the audience ready with bottles and rocks and then Lemmy comes out and they just freeze. He said, 'Here are friends of mine from the States, give them a listen.' That gave us that much breathing space. And we took the place apart. When we went off stage we still heard them stomping their feet and yelling, 'Twisted Sister!' It was our send off and everything went from there. So I wrote this song for him and always wanted to put it on tape," says Snider, noting that Lemmy has recorded a version of it himself, for an independent film about skateboarding.

What is this shit with fuckin' Ron Jeremy and his fuckin' site? He has this whole section of him posing for pictures with "celebrities". There are 5 pages of this shit, for a total of 61 fuckin' pictures. There are pictures of Ron with the likes of Fred Asparagus and Eddie Furlong. Can someone please tell me who the fuck those people are? Then there are pictures of him with Mason Reese and Kato Kaelin. Two fuckin' blasts from the past, one a has-been and the other a never-was. Then there are pictures with Fred Durst and Kid Rock and Axl Rose and Tommy Lee and Carrot Top. I know who they are, a bunch of fuckin' wimps. But in all of these 61 pictures, there is not one of Ron Jeremy and Lemmy. I though that he was a big Motorhead fan. Perhaps he's afraid of getting his picture taken with a dude that gets just as many chicks as he does, and real ones at that, not those surgically-altered, drug-addicted porno chicks or 87-year -old ladies and Long Jean Silver and that shit. Lemmy is 10 times cooler than all of those fuckin' dorks in those 61 pictures put together. I think that it is an outrage that Lemmy isn't featured on at least 1 whole page of pictures, in fact, it is a veritable apostasy! I take great umbrage at this and would like to express my displeasure over the situation.

I have this Motrhead CD called Live & Loud, and I am wondering what the fuck it is ? It was released by Emporio label in mid '90's. It sounds like a bootleg CD and it contains rather weird version of Ace of Spades - very different. I am willing to trade it into something. Please e-mail me your offers if any and if you have anything to ask.
By the way, finnish Motrheadbangers, see ya at Tullikamari 29th of November ! It's my bloody birthday then !

Probably old news for you, but I saw no mention of the video for "God Save..." on the news page and I have seen the video on US tv. It was played last Friday night on VH1's Rock Show. I guess that show is turning more and more into a Headbanger's Ball-Lite and I think I may be tuning in a bit more. I think society may be coming to an end, Motorhead turned up on cable in the US. Scary.

I can't remember if its called "Deaf Not Blind" or "Blind Not Deaf" its been so fucking long. It was released around 1985 and had the video for "Killed By Death", which was featured on some MTV metal show hosted by Dee Snider. Motorhead fans with long memories will remember MTV wouldn't show it in its entirty. I called a record shop and they said they had it in stock(this is 1986, mind you)and when I went to pick the damn thing up, it was on BETA! Who had beta? So I've been trying to find the damn thing ever since then. I'm sure its out of print, but a true Motorhead fan needs your help!

Now I'm typing in motorhead.net and motorhead.org This time I get these two sites about cars. All this shit about automotive information and all this boring shit about engines and classic cars and so on. Once again, I look all over the place and I see not one picture of or referrence to Lemmy and the boys. No attempt to sell stereos by saying that they really crank like a motherfucker and have great sound, so you can listen to your favorite Motorhead release. No pictures of Lemmy or Phil or Mikkey sitting in a car endorsing it by saying that you can get chicks like they do by driving this, or party like they do by driving this or rock like they do. Nothing. How fucking boring. One of these sites has a mailing list that you can get on and get an e-zine like this one. I bet theirs is really fucking exciting. Probably no fucking chicks are in it at all ever, just a bunch of dorky fucking mechanics. I bet there's no rock in it either. Probably just engines screaming because those fucking grease monkeys think that's cool sounds. The party part of that shit is probably dorks messing around with fucking air filters and carberators and drinking fucking Yoo-Hoo. This is truly the only worthwhile scene that says Motorhead in it on the whole fucking Internet. We have sex, drugs and rock and roll here and kick-ass fucking concerts and all kinds of cool people and lots of chicks as well. Everything else that I look at that purports to say Motorhead or Lemmy in it pales by comparison. Yes, this is the true Motorhead scene and I for one am fucking really glad to be a part of it.

Hi all,

Yesterday I asked Lemmy a question our friend Sarmad had been wanting to know for weeks: Are Motrhead gonna bring with them their Bomber Lighting Rig? Lemmy's answer: YES, WE ARE. However, he told me that only=the people who attend=the Brixton gig on October 22th will be the lucky ones to see again (or first time) our=old and beloved rig. Unless things change, the rig won't be used during the=upcoming European Tour.

He also said that the hassles with the book and its editor are starting to get better, and although things go really slow, it seems some day the book will see the light. He seemed particularly concerned about readers not getting disappointed with it. He said that, even though people like biographies full of offensive and bombing humilliating stories about other people, he hasn't written anything like that in the book.

Subject: os: help! what is what? or which is which?

Just wondering if anyone can help me in finding a CD version of the LP ON PAROLE. Years back, I was fortunate enough to rescue a copy of this record from a budget bin at a local record store. My total cost was $2.99US (plus tax)--no really, it's true. This particular copy is the EMI version which has the word MOTORHEAD centered across the top with a picture of Lemmy standing and singing into a microphone.

What I want to know is what version of THIS LP is available on CD (if at all) since I know that countless genuine and knock-off versions of this LP have been released over the years. Why I am looking for THIS version is simple: it's the only recording I have of the song "Motorhead" that has a motorcycle staring up in the beginning before the actual vocals begin. Since it's my favorite version of the self-title song, I'm hoping to find it on CD somewhere so I'll have another recording as a back-up.

If anybody knows something, please drop me a line.

PS. Keep up the GREAT work Ace, as it really helps to keep tabs on Motorhead's whereabouts!!

PPS. In response to what Ola said in OS #107 and what Artyom said in OS #108, I couldn't agree more with the fact that so called "BEST OF" collections just don't cover most of what real fans would consider the "best" a particular group has had to offer over the years. This would definitely include this latest (and pointless) collection of Motorhead material. For me, it's just another attempt to cash-in on the Motorhead name and cater to the masses (who don't really appreciate them as us OS'ers do). Guess what? I already possess the "Best of Motorhead"; it's called my personal collection of their studio/live releases. [In case you didn't know, I was being sarcastic.]

For argument's sake, the only "Best of" I have ever personally purchased that would even come close to being a REAL collection is The Rolling Stones Hot Rocks: 1964-71. The Stones will always be my absolute favorite band. If you like them or are into their music, you CANNOT tell me this isn't one of the best music compilation/collections ever made. Notice that it isn't even called a "best of." It was originally released as two LP's (which I own). They contain all of the Stones' best material at that time. This is what I would call the exception to the rule.

If you're not into the Stones, however, then I would fully concur that there has yet to be a REALLY GOOD "Best of" to be released for ANY other group--Motorhead included.

I'll just stick to reading the "Best About Motorhead" in this newsletter instead of wasting my money on a "Best of Motorhead" collection.
