Greetings Fellow Motorheadbangers!!

* Vans/Thrasher Event in San Diego - The special invitation-only event in San Diego on friday night was an awesome show! The small club held only about 800 people but the band deafened newbies left and right. A very tight set that the guys clearly enjoyed playing. Sound check contained an interesting treat - an impromptu rendition of "My Way" with Lemmy delivering the vocals in a way that would have made Sid proud. I talked to him about it afterwards and he indicated that it was totally spur of the moment. It was also a bit of a shock to see Mikkey sporting black hair instead of his blonde locks. I think it looked great!

Vans reps told me that the Motorhead shoes will be out soon. In addition, they were giving away some special Motorhead shirts at the show. I am trying to get some to use as give-a-ways for you! Also, some shows! I will keep you posted.

Long time OS list member Evil Clam journeyed all the way from Ottawa, Ontario in Canada to come and check out the show in San Diego. Here is what he had to say about the show:

"What can I say about the greatest band in the world that hasn't already been said? The show was incredible! The guys just keep getting better every time I see them. This was easily one of THE most ferocious gigs I have had the pleasure of witnessing. They really blew the roof off the place! Thanks to Ace (You are the man, bro!), I got to hang out with the band and crew before and after the show. As always, they were very cool, and I got a whole load of pictures and a couple of CD jackets signed. I even talked about gear with Lemmy!! Thanks Ace, you RULE!"

* Castle Records has decided to release two more interesting Motorhead compilations. Here are the details:

Can it really be twenty-five years since Ian 'Lemmy' Kilmister first picked up a bass guitar in anger and inaugurated the Rock beast now known as Motrhead? Indeed so, and Castle Music celebrate this glorious anniversary with the release of two must-have collections.

'The Chase Is Better Than The Catch: The Singles A&B's' First up we have a ferocious twenty-four compilation which yokes together the band's single A and B sides, as recorded during their heyday with the Bronze Records label. Motrhead were the masters of the seven-inch single, distilling their fevered full metal racket to the dictates of the format brilliantly. Contained within are such unvarnished metallic classics as "Overkill", "Bomber" and "Ace of Spades", fiery speedfreak shards of heavy-duty musical mayhem. The joy of the classic Motrhead forty-five was often in flipping it over, where the listener finds more of the same, sulphuric guitar, clattering drums, a crunching underpinning of bass and topping it off Lemmy's increasingly unhinged vocal assault.

Go To http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00004X0T1/blastmagazine0c for info on pre-ordering this CD!

'Over The Top: The Rarities'

The Rarities is a twelve track round-up of lost gems from the mighty -head catalogue. It contains the likes of their Motrhead / Girlschool hit, "Please Don't Touch", incendiary alternate takes of "Louie Louie", "(Don't Let -Em) Grind You Down", as well as their version of the Johnny Burnett /Yardbirds classic, "Train Kept A-Rollin". No Motrhead fan will want to be without this sizzling reminder of one of Metal's most revered of institutions.

Go To http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00004X0T2/blastmagazine0c for info on pre-ordering this CD!

* OS Y2K Shirts - The time has come again! The second annual offering of the official OVERNIGHT SENSATION MAILING LIST T-SHIRT is upon us! We have a killer new design for this years image that is made exclusively for members of the OS list. As many of you that bought last year's shirt realize, the OS shirts are a great way for OS members to find each other at shows. This year's shirt features artwork by long time OS member Paul Higgins. Paul is also the graphics wizard that created many of the images that grace the official Motorhead website.

The first edition of these shirts sold out quickly and have become one of the most desirable and rare Motorhead t-shirt collectable known! Don't miss out on this edition!!

To order one (or several as many of you did last time), please go to http://www.imotorhead.com/tshirt2000.htm

Continued response to these has been very luke warm. If we don't pick things up, I will have to cancel the project. We need to print at least 100 shirts to make this worth while. This means that only one in 30 of you need to buy. So far there are about 25 orders. Come on people, lets get with it! This is your list and you have to participate if you want special things like this to happen.

* Official Motorhead Tour Merchandise - Bravado Internation Group (BIG) is the company that is in charge of all the merchandise for Motorhead has informed me that they will not be reprinting any materials in the near future. In fact, the next time they print will be when the band tours the US again (next year). So, I have several orders for materials that I do not have. I will be contacting you all individually to offer alternatives or refunds. Please be patient as I have a lot to get through.

* Razor Magazine will be presenting a webcast of Motorhead and Nashville Pussy's show from the Hollywood Palace. This will debut at http://www.razormagazine.com on Oct 1. This is also the website that will broadcast the final Colt 40 Fienberg show. For those of you that listen to Howard Stern's radio show, you will know who Colt is... Very funny stuff!

* TOUR DATES! Get you Tour Dates!

If there are any Motorheadbangers out there that can get me a copy of any of the posters used to promote gigs in their town, I would be grateful. A special thanks to all of you that have done so already. Please contact me off of list to arrange shipment. I think it would be cool to do a section in the gallery of nothing but posters. I need your help, please let me know if you are up to it! Thanks!

Please mail them to:

As a fan of the band since I bought the first single soon after it's release in 1977, I look forward to each issue of OS, and regularly check the website for the latest news.

I have just bought the "Best of Motrhead" CD and agree with many of Ola Nyberg's comments. Mind you, I know that whatever the track listing, it would never suit everyone.

Just one question, would it be possible to let us know which parts of the website have been updated.
Thank=you for all of your hard work.

I have been reading this bullshit about Eddie vs. Phil, Philthy vs. Mikkey Dee for a while now, here's my two cents. Eddie bailed on Lemmy 2 days into their 2nd full US tour, we were treated to a god awful show in Chicago (Robbo tried really hard). Robbo told me that he had not slept for 2 days straight while listening to headphones, trying to learn the songs. Lemmy stated that Girlschool had more balls than Fast Eddie, and he should know, as he had F*cked two of them!! I like the Eddie stuff a lot, but let's get real, Phil is brilliant, Eddie is average on his best day. Mikkey Dee is THE BEST slammer in the history of bombastic powerhouse drumming. All of you "ex- Motorheadbangers" =pantywaists are not needed anyway ( go play the Fastway L.P.) =Lemmy always has and always will know what's good for you (the fans). He has been doing this since you were a twinkle in your daddy's eyes. =Lemmy is God, hallowed be his name. Cheers, Tim & Ellen Shockley (real MHB's since the very 1st US Motorhead tour and before, I love you both!). We beat the living sh*t out of Ozzy's guest list people who happened to be sitting in OUR front row seats). Eddie & Lemmy thought us mad, we still are!!! =I punched about 6 people in the back of their heads until they wisely decided to surrender the seats to us (wise choice). =This current line up would kill for each other and for us the fans. Cheers to you Ace, a brilliant job, YOU RULE!!! =I'm also your down the street neighbor in West Hollywood, email me so I can dig out some old photos for you. Here's to another 25 years of the greatest band who ever lived, and music which has been a very importanttpart of my life for over =20 of them. ==

Ace, I've just been looking at the T shirt ordering page and I was wondering how can I order a shirt in US dollars living in the UK?

John Carley, UK

**Ace: There are two ways. Most UK banks will issue money orders drawn on a US bank. All that means is that they have established a relationship with a US bank that has agreed to represent their US dollar transactions. The name of the US band appears on the money orders. The second (less recommended) way is to obtain the proper amount of US cash and mail it over. PLEASE NOTE: I am not responsible for cash that is lost in the mail. Hope that helps.

Hey Ace,

Just got the first OS since I subscribed and a good read it turned out to be. Great to see fans from Eastern Europe and South Africa chiming in as well.

The comment that we're lucky to see MH as often as we do is indeed a fair one, but fair play to the band who do go into the less well known territories to get to the fans further afield. Living in Edinburgh, it's a short trip to see the band play in Glasgow (hey Lem any chance you'll do the Corn Exchange in Edinburgh - it's a new venue and has a decent capacity?) but it's always a welcome sight to see the band's name appear on the gig lists in town.

I've been into the band since early 1980 just before the Ace of Spades single came out. If anything they're the purest kind of band going - they haven't changed their approach or attitude since day one and that's with several personnel changes and new labels over the years. The present lineup has - for me anyway - eclipsed the 'classic' lineup. Saw the gig at Glasgow Barrowlands in Oct 98 and they blew the place away for near on two hours.

Love the website, the work that you and others lke Alan Burridge have done to keep the band's name prominent over time is well commendable. Over here, we're fed a regular diet of boy bands, Britney, Steps and the like and looking at daytime radio schedules you'd think hard rock was still to be invented. Sites like yours at least give the fans an opportunity to get a fix on their bands of choice.

All the best

George

(ps - like the e-mail address then???)

I guess you're bearing in mind the album that is called "King Biscuit Flower Hour Presents+" It was released in 1997 and that concert was recorded on the 10th of August 1983 at L'Amour East, Queens, NY. The CD contains 7 songs (unfortunately, it's not a complete show) and very interesting interview with Lemmy about the days with Robbo. The cat. # of this CD is: 70710-88029-2. If you're looking for the official live recordings with Robbo I can recommend you to try to get a 'Live'83' CD (it's extremely hard to find, but it exist!). It was issued by a Streetlink in 1991 and contains the recording of the show at Sheffield University June 9, 1983. Cat. #: STRCD 008. Was issued on vinyl also. "Meltdown" 3CD box-set (1991, Castle/Essential) also contains part of the concert with Robbo (5 songs, recorded also at Sheffield University in 1983, but on the day later!). By the way, this box-set is very good, contains all well-known rarities and some weird remixes too, cat. #: ESBCD 146. And, at last, there is a very rare bootleg called "Mad Max 3", it was recorded in Gent, Belgium 1983, and the main treasure if it is 'Nadine' cover!

Your letter impressed me a lot, and it was easy to understand that all that touches you a lot! I am quite sure that you are an old fan, I remember seeing your name in the old issues of the MHB World Magazine, so try to remember such compilations as, for example, "Grind Ya Down." Or resoursefully titled "The Collection" (1987 Castle Communications). Remember this shit? In comparison with this ones and many others that were issued is enourmous quantities new box set is not bad at all! Well, as for the compilations, I think that it's senseless to wait for the ideal compilation, 'cause any choice is a matter of taste, and I never seen an IDEAL compilation album in my life, there is no album which I would say about: "Yes, that's a REAL best of!", and it's not only about Motorhead, it's the same with other bands too. The compilations of such kind as the current Motorhead box-set are made not for the die-hard Motorhead fans as you (and many of those who read this now) are, but for those who like some Motorhead songs, but they don't want to buy all the official albums and singles, so the compilation album is a perfect choice for them. There are so many Motorhead compilations, and this is just another one, so take it easy, we, the die-hard maniacs, are destined to buy all such reissues/repackages just to make our collections complete! The only excuse for those who compiled this box-set is that they decided to include some unreleased live material this time - and! huge thanks for that, or in other case this box-set would become another ordinary dumb cash-in compilation that would just occupy a place in your Motorhead altar of records because of the only reason that it has those 9 native letters on the cover!

Hello to all,

Thanks Ace for posting the tourdates. I didn't realize Motorhead were playing at the Bumbershoot Festival in Seattle last Monday until I saw it on the tourdates list on Friday. So I made the trip down from Vancouver for Bumbershoot. A very cool festival, 250 bands I think over 4 days, but most of them are folksy eg Tracy Chapman, Joan Osborne, Ben Harper- how did Motorhead get this gig? It was cool though. They played the mainstage at the football stadium on a sunny Monday afternoon. There were quite a few people there, a lot of Motorhead fans near the front, and a few thousand others who probably never would get to see Motorhead live. Lemmy came out looking pretty damn cool, with sunglasses and a cowboy hat. He says"its ass-kicking time boys and girls", then they broke into We are Motorhead. No surprises in the set, but they only had 75 minutes, so there were a couple tunes left out- Orgasmatron and Stay out of Jail. It was very cool to see them in a big venue, and in daylight. Despite problems with sound, Lemmy, Phil, and Mickey looked like they were having a blast.
Ace, will send some pictures if they turn out OK.

(from Wall of Sound's review of the Seattle Bumbershoot festival)...

Motrhead, Monday, 2:00 p.m.
On a bright, gorgeous day, Motrhead, the loudest band in the world, took to the mainstage to remind everyone that to rock is to be heard. With an "OK, kids, it's ass-kickin' time," frontman Lemmy lived by his word, kicking ass hard and deafeningly loud for an hour. Each time he growled into the mic, threatening and cajoling the people in the crowd, they yelled back louder - especially when Lemmy unleashed a distinctive sales pitch in which he threatened to commit acts of adultery with the significant others of anybody who didn't purchase a copy of Motrhead's latest CD. Believe it or not, Motrhead can actually perform in the middle of the day and sound as good as in any smoke-filled, late-night venue. - Kristen Corning

hey ace and all my fellow mhb's!
been a long friggin' time since i posted anything. things look great ace! 107 issues.....what a great deal of pleasure you must get when you sit back(as unfrequently as that must be for you!) and see what you have done for motorhead fans, new and old, all over the world! anyways, just went to see lemmy & co. at bumpershoot..........what a hell of a show. first time i've been able to see the in a large venue(although small venues are much more intimate and F#*%ING LOUDER!!!!!) it was loud and ad loudness was good! took my wife(a motorhead live show virgin) and my twin 12 yr. old boys(who both say to tell you, HEY ACE!) the smiles on their faces and the pounding of their feet said it all. i received large hugs, hand shakes and more than ample thanks for the experience i bestowed on them. hopefull this is the beggining of a long father / son tradition!!!! well, thats all for now....... how's cali.?? hope life is giving you all its best(you deserve it!) stay well and keep up the good work later,
PSYCHOMIKE

**Ace: The only think that sucks about California is that I don't get to go to Motorhead shows with Psychomike!! :-)

Hello everybody,

our site got updated!!!

First of all, I have to mention the fact that is probably noticed by people who have been sending us emails. Artyom MHB#1916 agreed to help me out with the site. When 2 stubborn Motorhead fans put efforts together, that always produces some results like beer drinking or serious website. No, I'd say serious website through beer drinking.

The design of the site is slightly changed. If your screen resolution is 800x600 or higher, you'll surely notice that.

We added a new section called 'Special Area' where we're putting 'special' stuff. Yep. singles discography with scanned sleeves is already there. Check it out.

New question appeared on our Poll. What drink does fits Motorhead best?
- Jack Daniels
- Carlsberg Beer
- Smirnoff Vodka
C'mon people, we have to figure that out!

Then, we added some new MP3s. Some cool ones!

- Broken (live). From Titty Twister bootleg (live In Osaka 28.5.97). Pretty excellent quality of sound.

- Bite The Bullet (live). Motorhead appearance at the Monsters of Rock, Castle Donnington, 16 aug 1986. This track is dangerous! Prepare your ass for being kicked.

- Desire. From 'Bat Head Soup - A Tribute to Ozzy Osbourne'. Lemmy on vocals.

- Night Of The Hawks. An excellent Hawkwind song featuring Lemmy on bass and back vocals.

- Tie Your Mother Down. From Dragon Attack - A Tribute To Queen. Lemmy on bass and vocals,
Ted Nugent on guitar.

Covers:

- Iron Fist (live) by Sodom.
- Orgasmatron by Salvo.
- One Track Mind by Entombed.

I split our Linkbase. Probably, it was kind of vaste and a bit difficult for browsing. Now, 2 new sections appeared - Interviews and Articles. The linkbase itself got updated. Interviews updated, too.

The section with pictures is slightly updated.
Hope you'll appreciate the changes.
